Some years ago the fishing fleet from Marina di Camerota was one of the famous fleets of the country. Even today you can observe small fishing boats and fishing vessels in the evening hours. Early in the morning the fishermen return to the port and unload their catch, now mainly exists from anchovies, tuna and swordfish. The fishing season and the olive harvest are in autumn. Marina di Camerota is a lively place even in off season and winter time and is suitable for hiking and sightseeing holidays or just to enjoy the warmer climate.
Beaches, bays and boats:
West of Marina di Camerota there is along the coastal road from Palinuro an intermittent 7-km long beach called Spiagga Mingardo. Following are the Cala del Cefalo, Finocchiara Cala, Cala d' Arconte and the Calanca beach which is only 5 minutes to walk from centre, the beach Marina delle Barche eastern of the port, Spiagga Lentiscelle, Cala Fortuna, Cala Monte di Luna, Cala Bianca, Pozzallo beach and Porto degli Infreschi (natural port).
The ocean is clean and clear with a deep blue-green colour. In small coves you will find beautiful sand- or pebble beaches, many of which are publicly available. Calanca beach is nearly in the middle of the village behind a small crossing street from main street (Via Bolivar). The village and its surroundings offer several bays and beaches to relax on. The southernmost beach of the village is the family-friendly Lentiscelle beach. The beach can be reached over a spacious parking area in a few footsteps. At the port you can rent licence free boats.
