Welcome to Baerwalde ... North of Dresden, surrounded by many wonderful meadows and woodlands, Baerwalde is located on the border of the former Moritzburg hunting preserve of Saxon's 'August der Starke', Elector of Saxony and King of Poland. Agriculture has a long history in this part of Saxony and gives the region with its many pastures and fields its typical flair. Countless paths lead the visitor to ever new discoveries past a landscape of ponds and lakes, ancient oaks, Linden and Beech trees. Nature's large and small animals are ever present and easy to spot in the wild here. The many local farms and homes offer an insight to the people and their lives in the village that is still closely connected with nature.

Sights in and around Baerwalde: The closest attraction is undoubtedly the baroque Moritzburg Hunting Castle. Besides that the region offers a lot of other interesting sights like the Fasanenschloesschen - a rococo castle, the vineyard house, the Meissen Porzellanmanufaktur (porcelain plant), Kathie Kollwitz Memorial, Karl May Museum and many others. Take a horse drawn carriage through this peaceful area. Catch an historic old steam train ride through the countryside. The newly renovated, historic town squares are gems to stroll through. Southeast of Dresden are the Elbe Sandstone Mountains, also called the 'Saxon Switzerland' with great opportunities for hiking and mountain climbing. Equestrian enthusiasts are welcome to visit the famous Moritzburg stables and the 'Hengstparade' Horse show, every August/September. Or you simply could go fishing, biking, horseback riding, hiking or swimming in these wonderful, nature environments.

Notes: Our Apartment is part of a historic three sided farm 'Hof' yard in half-timbered style and is located in the center of the village near to the church. The village life is formed by hundreds of years of agriculture so it's not surprising that the rooms of the apartment were once storage places for grain and straw. Some of the original clay walls are still visible. There's a 2 bedroom apartment, 130qm, 2-5/6 people capacity, natural wood half-timber, some partial clay walls. The apartment stretches over two floors and has its own separate entrance, a big and cozy living hall and is equipped with a piano, satellite TV, internet access and telephone. The kitchen is open to the hall and has a dining table, electric stove, microwave, refrigerator, coffee machine, dishes, and silverware etc. There are two bedrooms with a double bed, 2 single beds and a possibility for an additional 3rd bed. Two bathrooms are equipped with a shower and bathtub and a washing machine.

Specials : There is an outdoor sitting area with a grill and a garden pavilion. In addition we offer artists and musicians the chance to practice their art here with the opportunity to use our rehearsal room. It's big enough for chamber orchestra groups. Dance floor, mirrors and ballet railings are available by demand. Furthermore, it is possible for horse lovers to bring their horses and keep them in our stable on the farm.
