If you’re looking for a quiet, sea-side house with a personal touch,far from the tourist crowd in the middle of the wine and champagne region of Penedés, you’ve come to the right place. This house is situated at the edge of the village in a little vineyard region near El Vendrell. Instead of miles of jaded beaches, like so many holiday resorts in season, St. Oliva is a real village all year through – really authentic. The house was completely internally renovated in 2008. It’s furnished in a rustic/modern style and has 700m² ground surface – so there are lots of little corners in it. So even with 6 persons you can be separate in the bedroom or in various seating corners, or you can just take a holiday nap in the hammock on the olive trees. There are 4 terraces: • a pergola with a view of the garden, • in the rear courtyard in the shade of the trees, • just behind the living room • a roof terrace. All have garden furniture

Costa Dorada , as its name suggests, has golden beaches. Its long white sandy beaches are lovely and clean and just right for children who can play in the water without any problems because the water is very shallow. Just between Sitges and Tarragona there are fine, infinite beaches that are relatively empty even in mid summer. The nearest beach is not far from St. Oliva, only 15 min. by car / 5 km and you’ll be in St. Salvador, the town centre of El Vendrell with a fantastic promenade and several chiringuitos / beach bars. Also there are specific areas for water sports such as sailing and wind and kite surfing. Santa Oliva is situated right next to the province’s capital city, Baix Penedès, El Vendrell, and you can see its castle tower from afar. The village is more than 1000 years old. This little vineyard town contains a supermarket, bakers shops, pubs, an open-air swimming bath and a hospital. You can get to an 'Aldi' in 5 min. by car.

Santa Oliva - Urlaub vom Alltag

Wir haben mit unseren 3 Kleinkindern 4 Wochen Urlaub in Santa Oliva gemacht. Uns hat vor allem die Authentizität des Ortes gut gefallen und der große Garten, in dem unsere Kinder den ganzen Tag auf Käferjagd waren. Er bietet auch Platz für ein Planschbecken.

Das Haus selbst strahlt seinen ganz eigenen Charme aus - nichts für Feng Shui Fetische und Krimskramsallergiker. Das Platzangebot ist gut. Die vielen tollen Terassen am Haus machen ein Leben im Freien möglich. Essen, Kochen, Spielen, Schreiben, Lesen - da findet jeder ein Plätzchen für sich.

Santa Oliva selbst ist uns sehr freundlich begegnet. Man braucht allerdings unbedingt ein Auto hier um zum Strand e.t.c. zu kommen.
De nächste Strand bei Sant Salvador ist unendlich herrlich und man begegnet fast nur Spanieren dort. Die Preise sind insgesamt sehr moderat. Das macht Spaß!

Man kann hier - selbst mit Kleinkindern - fernab vom touristischen Stress zu Ruhe kommen. Einfach das Leben geniessen - Zusammen sein - mit Sonne, Wein, Oliven und ein paar Klecksen Kinderglück.

Also, wers nicht schickilacki sondern eher authentisch mag, ist in diesem Dörfchen und diesem Häsuchen richtig. Die Vermieter sind auch sehr nett, kümmern sich persönlich und haben tolle Tipps.
Owner's Response: Santa Oliva und das am Dorfrand gelegene Casa S'Oliva sind in der Tat ideal für Familienurlauber. Deshalb freuen wir uns sehr über diese gute Bewertung :-) Neben "Käfer und Planschbecken" gibt es natürlich auch die Möglichkeit, weitere Spielsachen mitzubringen und sie im Garten auszubreiten. Außerdem haben wir neben Brettspielen auch eine Tischtennisplatte und Fahrräder in der Garage, die wir gerne "herausrücken", wenn es der Mieter wünscht.

Was den "Krimskrams" angeht, so sind wir dabei, systematisch weiter auszuräumen. Nach dem Motto "weniger ist mehr" werden wir uns von einigen Deko-Teilen trennen und stattdessen weitere praktische Pluspunkte sammeln, wie zum Beispiel in Mückennetze oder ein besseres Wohnzimmerregal investieren.

Die vielen schönen Terassen, von denen in der Bewertung die Rede ist, haben auch den Vorteil, dass man auch in der nicht so heißen Jahreszeit immer ein schönes, warmes Plätzchen im Freien findet. Die Dachterasse eignet sich auch im Herbst prima für ein letztes, angenehmes Sonnenbad - garantiert ohne Einblicke von Nachbarn ;-) In der Terasse vor dem Haus ist es sogar an manchen Wintertagen so warm, dass man dort problemos Frühstücken kann.

Oliven gibt's übrigens auch, "selbstgemachte" sogar. Die ernten wir im Dezember von den Olivenbäumen im Garten und legen sie zunächst in Salzwasser, dann zusammen mit Rosmarin und Knoblauch ein. Gerne geben wir davon Kostproben weiter, so dass sie voll und ganz auf den "Oliva"-Geschmack kommen.
