Praia das Macas is a small city on the Atlantic with a very clean beach and clean water. There are good shopping facilities (daily market with vegetables and fresh fish), a small supermarket, a butcher, bakery, pharmacy and restaurants and cafes for all tastes and all budgets. All around you will find a lot of large and small beaches, some can also be reached on foot. Since the region is not industrialised, it is one of the places with the best air in Europe. From here you can reach Portugal's charming capitol of Lisbon, the romantic summer residence of the former kings of Sintra - with castles, a palace and gardens (Lord Byron called it: 'the glorious garden of Eden') Estoril with its world-famous casino and the lively former fishing village of Cascais with beautiful shops, restaurants, bars, etc. and also the city of Mafra with its impressive, large monastery and a lot more.
