The holiday home "Casa Lantana" is located within view of the wine region of Colares & the village Mucifal in a residential region in the middle of the nature park of Sintra/Cascais & directly near the Atlantic (beaches), green mountain chains, rural idylls & countless attractions like the former king's residence Sintra (UNESCO World Heritage Site) with its castles and parks guarantee an adventurous holiday. From the living room, covered dining area & the sunny spaces around the house you will have a view of the foothills of the Sintra mountains. The large garden invites you to relax and enjoy with its diversity of flowers. In the area you will find everything you need for your culinary needs. In the market hall of Mucifal (5min on foot), freshly caught fish are offered daily, in the neighbouring Almocageme there is a farmer's market on the weekends. The city Praia das Macas is known for its distinguished fish locals (1.5km).

The former royal city of Sinta is 8km away and is one of the most attractive cities in Portugal. With its alleys, the lush old parks, the burg and the castles, it is known for its picturesque location in the mountains of the Serra da Sintra. On your way to the most western point of Europe, the Cabo da Roca, you must ride through Colares, before the winding streets lead through the foothills on the steep coast. Here you will have a spectacular view of the Atlantic and the rock cliffs. Far from the mountains you will find the famous resorts of Cascais and Estoril, which illustrate a contrast to the rural life in Colares with its city flair. 2 to 4km from Colares away you will find the beaches of the region: Praia das Macas, Praia Grande and Praia da Adrage. The latter is one of the most beautiful in Europe. On the expansive Praia Grande, surfers will find everything they need. During the summer, a nostalgic train rides from Sintra through Colares to the beach.

Wir haben im September 2009 mit sechs Personen zwei Wochen Urlaub in Casa Lantana verbracht und haben uns hier sehr wohl gefühlt. Das landestypische gepflegte Haus ist liebevoll und dem Stil des Hauses entsprechend geschmackvoll eingerichtet. Eine schöne überdachte Terrasse mit Blick in den Garten und zu den Bergen von Sintra lädt von Früh bis Abend zum verweilen ein. Hinter dem Haus befindet sich ein Naturgarten mit Sand und Pinien. Das Haus befindet sich inmitten einer Villengegend mit vorwiegend einheimischer Bevölkerung des hübschen und einfachen Dorfes Colares. Geschäfte mit Produkten des täglichen Bedarfs sind zu Fuß in wenigen Minuten zu erreichen. Die sehr schönen Strände sind mit dem Mietwagen in wenigen Minuten zu erreichen. Die Bus- und Bahnanbindung nach Sintra und Lissabon ist sehr gut und preisgünstig. Ein Erlebnis ist die Fahrt mit der elektrische Straßenbahn nach Sintra; die Haltestelle ist vom Haus nur wenige Minuten entfernt.
Fazit:
Wir hatten einen schönen und entspannenden Urlaub und haben uns sofort wohl gefühlt.
