LANZAROTE:
Lanzarote, called 'Conejera' by the islanders, is also known as the island of 100 volcanoes. Its volcanic origin has created a landscape with more than 300 volcanoes. It is the most eastern island of the Canarian archipelago and it is situated very close to the African coast (which is some 125km away) and north of Fuerteventura. The surface of the island measures 846km2, and its widest point is some 21km across. To the north of the island, we find a group of small islands, La Graciosa, Alegranza, Montaña Clara, Roque del Este and Roque del Oeste, which form the Chinijo archipelago. Warm temperatures all year. With a good deal of flatland, Lanzarote is the least mountainous of the Canary Islands. Due to its low level, Lanzarote is below the level of humid and warm air. In general, this results in a dry climate with little rain.
PLAYA BLANCA:
The small fishing village of Playa Blanca has grown to a modern and luxury holiday center on Lanzarote. It makes an attractive holiday destination with lots of possibilities. The newly built promenade is the heart of the place for visitors, with its rows of cafés and restaurants. In Babylonian fashion, all sorts of languages can be heard there. At midday and especially in the evenings, when everyone has returned from the beach, the promenade walk is full of people.
The nicest beach is the Playa Dorada, or Golden Beach. lt is near the centre of the village, very clean and, being partly man-made, it is well protected and safe. And behind the harbour you will find another beach called Playa Flamingo, with a lively atmosphere around. The beautiful natural beaches of Papagayo are famous and can be reached on foot, about 35 minutes along a coastal trackor by car.
