Wine:
Sigoules is in the heart of the wine region, all the local farms/chateaux offer their own variety of white, red and rose wine.
Monbazilac wine is a full bodied desert wine, similar to sautern, the chateau and village are only about 5 kms and it is a fascinating experience to sample the wines from different years and different farms.
The Sigoules wine cave sell all local wine and this can also be purchased by the 5 and 10 litre container!
Fishing:
The Dordogne river and it's tributaries plus numerous lakes and ponds provide abundant opportunities for both coarse and game anglers. Licences, bait etc. can be bought in Bergerac, Ste Foy La Grande and Eymet.
general information:
During the summer season there are lots of fetes in nearby villages and in Sigoules itself. March nocturnes, evening markets, have now become very popular with both local people and holiday makers, they are wonderful for eating great local cuisine en famille with everyone. The Sigoules mache nocturne on Friday evenings often has dancing until the late hours! The tourism office , just up the road from the house, has up to date information on all local activities including where to go for canoeing, horse riding, golf etc
Golf:
There are many golf courses a short distance from Sigoules. Sadillac is one that is popular with locals and tourists while Chateau les Vigiers in Monestier, only 5 kms away, has an 18 hole golf course and driving range and a 6 hole academy course.They welcome visitors, who can hire clubs, trolleys and electric carts.
A superior[and expensive] restaurant is also situated at the Chateau.
