Cheap and Cheerful Holiday.

This apartment was not easy to find and could do with an accurate description of it's location. Maps or a welcome pack would've been handy to have readily available upon arrival to direct us to the local amenities and attractions. The apartment itself was clean and tidy but a couple of light switches need fixing and a lock on the bathroom door would be good. (cringe moment)
No sky TV or Air Con. The nights were muggy and uncomfortable and a fan doesn't quite do the trick. When you're sticky and hot it can get you irritable and lead to arguments with your fellow holiday makers. We've all made up now though.
For anyone brave enough to drive on the right, a Sat Nav really help. Stick to the N332 (coastal road) and it will take you to many amazing beaches and towns. Walking from the apartment to the nearest beach is not excessive, may take 20 mins.
Santa Pola is a nice beach, 20 mins drive by car on the N332 (in the direction of Alicante). There is a nice cafe/restaurant nearby. All English speakers and the food is good value and served in big portions.
Mil Palmeras is a lovely long beach. 10 mins drive in the opposite direction. Here, You can hire out pedalos or 40 euros for 15 mins on a jet ski.
In peak season some of the beaches can get overcrowded and lots of lovely considerate people leave fag butts buried in the sand for your children to find.
When exploring towns or shopping, you better get up early or leave it til late afternoon because everyone has a siesta between 1300-1700 hours.
Orihula has a nice Cathedral but is a long drive away.
The nearest supermarkets are Consum or Mercadona. Both cheap and have lots of selection to create meals for every night of the week. The apartment provides good utensils, pots, pans and cutlery so you can eat comfortably. Plenty of fridge/freezer and cupboard space.
The shared communal pool is excellent. Maintained 3 times a week, good size, rarely used by the locals considering how many tenants have access. Couple of handy nets provided in the apartment to take to the pool when you go so you can scoop out a few floating leaves etc.
There is a restaurant called the Italian Affair on the main strip, round the corner from the apartment. It is fantastic. Very up-market and trendy but not expensive. Cost us 116 euros in total for 5 of us.
Most of the 'beach shops' sell pretty much the same toot but are fun none the less.
All in all a cheap and cheerful holiday.
Owner's Response: Many thanks for your comments. We have already looked into the issues with light fixtures and the lock on the bathroom door! (no more embarrasing moments I hope).
We hadn't been out ourselves at the hottest time of the year so appreciate comments on the Air Con and will investigate this further.
I am glad you enjoyed the apartment and hope you or freinds visit again, even if it's just to check the bathroom lock :-)
