Bordeaux airport is only about 90 minutes drive away, with Toulouse slightly further taking about 2 hours. There is car hire available at all the airports. We find that the most relaxing drive from the UK is from St Malo in about 6 hours, leaving Portsmouth with Brittany Ferries and throughout the summer they are doing night crossings both ways. Although it is not the cheapest ferry, it is a great way to start the holiday. A slightly longer drive is from Calais in about 9 hours.
