Le chateau de ma mere - les andibats
In the south of France, in the beautiful countryside called the ' Lauragais', you will find the Chateau de Ma Mere. It is located on a working farm where they grow wheat, summer sunflowers and other seasonal crops.The property has beautiful terraced grounds, a large swimming pool and borders the Rigole, built by Riquet under the reign of Louis XIV as a feeder stream for the Canal du Midi.
It is only 40 minutes from airports at Toulouse or Carcassonne.
This traditional castle was built in the 17th century and has been completely updated with a huge gourmet kitchen, with modern air conditioning and heating and seven bedrooms for 17 guests. Each of the seven bedrooms is designed with chic furnishings and luxurious bathrooms. One bathroom features a shower in the tower, cross of Malta window and claw-foot bath. Sitting rooms with comfortable settees offer relaxed after-dinner entertaining. If you want to keep up with the rest of the World, there are Satellite television and Wifi internet connection.
This is the land of hilltop windmills, Cathar lore and Cassoulet, the tasty regional dish.
Beautiful historic villages and towns abound in the area. Within 40 minutes is the beautifully restored walled city of Carcassonne, or Toulouse, with it famous red brick construction and St-Sernin the largest Romanesque cathedral in France. Albi, with is fortified cathedral and Toulouse-Lautrec museum is nearby.
Reach Mediterranean beaches in a little over an hour's drive!
The Pyrenees, Andorra and Spain are within easy reach.
Revel's famous market is only minutes away.
The sycamore edged Canal du Midi is fifteen minutes away, where you can watch the boats pass through the 3 locks at Castelnaudary. Great hiking or biking is nearby, along with great dining experiences at two gastronomic restaurants within 15 minutes.
Not far away there are vineyards, producing such wines as Minervois and Corbieres.
