To see the Périgord in a different way, come and sample the charms of an 1872 farmhouse (Just 10 mn far from the famous and beautiful town of Sarlat la Canéda), renovated with a modern touch, to bring this house back to life, whilst respecting its soul and its history. We have decorated our cottage to make you feel at home, to create a haven for you to get away from the stresses and strains of city life and life in general, whatever the season. This little house on the prairie is waiting for you, surrounded on all sides by verdant countryside and with splendid open views of the hilltops of the Périgord Noir (cimes meaning hilltop, from which the name Simeyrols [Cimeyrols] derives). Wake up in the morning to bright sunny skies and a view over the surrounding valleys with their morning mists; breakfast or dinner in the garden, overlooking the hollow where the deer come to graze at the edge of the wood, between light and shade, is a joy. Our house is in an exceptional position: Right in the heart of the Périgord Noir, where the three departments Dordogne, Lot and Corrèze meet. It is easily accessible, lying partway between Souillac (station and motorway access) and hotspots such as the beautiful, medieval town of Sarlat. Within a 30 miles radius are a number of medieval (Beynac, Castelnaud) and prehistoric (Lascaux, Les Eyzies) treasures in the 4 different areas of the Dordogne, Périgord Noir, Blanc, Rouge or Vert and the Quercy region. There are numerous possibilities for trips: on foot, horseback, by canoe, bike, quad bike, car, motorbike, hot-air balloon, micro light, helicopter... Come by train (Line Paris-Toulouse), Stations coming from Paris are: Brive (19) or Souillac and coming from Toulouse it's Gourdon (46) or by plane (Brive airport 30 mn from the house, Bergerac (24) an hours drive away or Toulouse (31), 2 hours drive away). We will come and fetch you and organise trips for you when you are here.

We accept weekend and long weekend bookings, outside school holidays. First meal offered at our table for any stay of at least one week and welcome basket for the first breakfast in the gîte. Half-board only on request. However, if you wish to avoid shopping and cooking there are plenty of good restaurants in the area and we are happy to give recommendations to help you to sample the different types of cuisine the region has to offer. Please note: we have kept the little pond in the garden, with its water lilies and frogs (to get rid of the mosquitoes); the comings and goings of the hedgehogs and turtle-doves which come to drink in it are a delight. It is not very deep (1m max.), but, for your own peace of mind, we would advise that the house is perhaps not suitable for families with very young children who cannot swim.

    This house is completely detached and for exclusive use of your family.
    Prices include water, electricity, heating and wood and also the taxe de séjour. Bath towels bedding and household linen are included without any extra charge. The beds will be made, to enable you to start enjoying your holiday straight away. The only thing you need to think about is cleaning at the end of your stay. For bookings of less than one week and weekends we would suggest that you pay a surcharge for cleaning, because the house is big and you will have limited time to enjoy your trip.
    There is a sliding scale of charges for stays of one month and above, outside the high season. Contact us for details. How to book and terms of payment can be found in the rental agreement, which you can download from our website.
    If you wish to book the house for more than a week in Summer, consider booking as early as the previous September, or in January or February at the latest.

  • The bathroom has a bath (170x80cm), a washbasin, a wc (plus in the bedroom washing facilities and separate wc) There is also a washing machine and a radiator, heated towel rail witch is as good as or even better than a tumble dryer, when the sun and the wind don?t allowed you to dry washing outside. Bath towels, washcloths, bathrobes, bath mats are provided without any extra charge. You can travel light, we will see to the rest (If you forget your tooth brush we can even supply you one of these)

  • 2 bedrooms, sleeps maximum of 6 people
  • including - 1 Baby Crib, 2 Double Beds, 1 Single Bed, 2 Sofa beds/Futons
  • We can accommodate 6 people, 7 at the most (5 proper beds, the sofa beds are more extra beds to put up any passing friends). But for everyone comfort and, in line with our official 3-star status, the house ideally sleeps 5 people (layout of the house can be seen on our website). The house is on one level, with the exception of a few steps where the level changes, or to access the mezzanine. Every bed has synthetic pillows bolsters and cosy duvets all treated against dust mites and non-allergenic. Every bedroom has air-conditioned or a ventilator and DVD or VHs video player. In winter you have to know how to use a wood burning stove, because even though the house is fully insulated, in the country side you need a wood fire to keep the damp out at bay, electric radiators on their own aren?t enough.

Notes: ADSL WiFi and a computer available in all our houses and in the garden too! Swimming pool (10 x 5 heated to 28 degrees min. from 15th April to 15th October) are available 400m away at the main farmhouse, accessible down the lane, on foot or by car (more picture of the pool on our website). Shared with the owner's family. (You may come across some cats, dogs and horses as well!) Table tennis and table football available by the pool.
