Our 2nd Stay
Review Submitted: May 17, 2009
Date of Stay: May 2009
I stayed here in Oct 2008 and liked it so much that we came back in May 2009. Luigi was responsive and helpful. This time was less eventful for him (last time we locked ourselves out at 12:00AM the night before our flight out and were in a panic, but he came over to help and wasn't perturbed-only wanting to make sure we were ok and happy with everything). The apartment is well situated for the Metro (A-Line Baldo Degli Ubaldi exit) and in a quiet residential area about a mile from the Vatican. It takes 5 minutes to walk to the Metro and less to bus stops. There are mom & pop grocery stores about 200 ft from the apartment & a full service grocery store next to the Metro. It takes about 15 minutes from the door of the apt. to the Metro exit for St. Peter's(Ottaviano) then 5 more minutes walk to the Basilica. The apartment has a full sized bedroom with a safe,tv, and armoire. The living room has a nice sofa bed, table with chairs and access to the paved garden area, which is great- an orange tree, fenced in-shady with some sun, table and chairs - great place to relax with a drink or eat after walking all day. We felt very safe here. We found that if we greeted the neighbors or people on the street with a friendly "buongiorno" or "buona sera", indifferent faces turned into to big smiles and greetings. The kitchen has a stovetop (2 burners) and an oven (which we didn't use- so I'm not sure how or if it works). The refrigerator/freezer is small by American standards, but plenty big enough for 4 people. Not a dorm-fridge. A full upright one. Buy a bottle of water for each person your 1st day-fill it 1/2 with water, lay it on it's side in the freezer each night-fill the rest w/water in the AM for a cold water during the day. Refill@ one of the many (safe) public fountains everywhere in Rome. Also a clothes washer in the kitchen. You can dry clothes on the drying rack out on patio. Don't wash and take showers @ the same time. Wash in eve. then hang out clothes. They'll be dry next PM when you get home. We felt very safe walking this area in the evenings and early mornings. If you go to Google, then maps, then type in "via graziano 62, Rome" then click the picture- turn to the right and arrow up the street 2x & look to the left, you'll see the garden of the apartment with the orange tree and a large pine tree. Thanks Luigi for a second great stay. We'll be back if we can swing it.
