Photos and Description of this County Waterford holiday cottage
Peaceful riverside location, frequent sighting of otters, birdwatchers paradise

A long, narrow, gravelled lane leads to Jack’s cottage; it’s the reason the cottage has retained its peaceful, old world charm. Located on the banks of the River Blackwater, the 300 year old fisherman's cottage is secluded and romantic, perfect for a get away from it all holiday.

Recently renovated, the cottage will allow you to rediscover life’s simple pleasures. Spacious and welcoming with a wood burning stove in the dining room and electric heating throughout the rest of the rooms. The brass beds under the thatched roof make for restful sleep. There is a well-equipped kitchen and utility room and the bathroom has a roll top bath and wet room with under floor heating.

The well tended garden has access to the riverbank, where there is a hide to help spot the local otters.

Bed linen and towels are included in the price, as well as start up amounts of household items such as cleaning products and basics for the kitchen and fuel for the stove. (List available)

Pets welcome.

Honeymoon Paradise!!

Review Submitted: December 28, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2008
Beautiful, romantic, peaceful! Well maintained- felt rather spoiled by owners generousity! Gave great advice for exploring and sight searching. Worth the trip down the road. Nature Lovers Paradise!! The most beautiful place we have ever stayed, unspoiled, rugged adventure awaits!! NOT FOR CITY SLICKERS!! Become one with the surroundings and you'll have a great time!

A real genuine hideaway

Review Submitted: June 21, 2011 Date of Stay: June 2011
Myself and my husband stayed for three nights and had a brilliant time. Bridie and Ben the owners could not have been nicer. The lane way to the cottage starts the experience as it is narrow it made me slow down mentally just what I wanted. The cottage and the gardens are magically, so much so that I have booked again for August. I traveled into Youghal and had a pleasant afternoon there Bridie recommend a craft shop in Ardmore which we dropped into it had some great pottery and other crafts and then we went for coffee in the Cliff House Hotel (Ardmore) and enjoyed the views over the bay. When we return in the Autumn a trip to Lismore is on the cards plus a trip on the Blackwater is a must.

We love it!

Review Submitted: June 6, 2011 Date of Stay: November 2000
We absolutely adore Jacks Cottage. We first stayed with Ben and Bridie on our honeymoon and returned three years later with our first daughter and three years after that with our second daughter. They both adore it too!

We hope to return in the not too distant future to show our latest addition to the family (a third daughter) our special place.

Lovely week at Jacks

Review Submitted: May 11, 2011 Date of Stay: May 2011
We are just back from a truly wonderful stay at Jacks cottage. We, myself, 2 sisters and mother and two kids ages 3 & 7 spent the week relaxing, talking , reading and taking in the beautiful surroundings that this cottage offers. It is a getaway from the normal ''what will we do next'' holiday. Time just stood still for the days & nights we stayed.

The boys loved running around outside in the secure ( magical ) garden, and loved sitting in the hut overlooking the river.

The house is restored so lovingly and with great care and attention to the very small details. The bed rooms are warm and cosy, the bathroom with the huge sinking bath is a great place to unwind the mind with some candles and a glass of wine. The kitchen is a fine size and has everything you need. Lastly, the main dining/sitting area with the stove fire is perfect place to sit and chat ... or say nothing at all as the warm glow of the fire sets an end to a wonderful day.

I would recommend Jacks cottage to anyone looking to leave behind the noise and the non stop running around!

A wonderful place to stay and I can't wait to stay again! Thank you Bridie and Ben
