Audaux holiday farmhouse. Protected historical farmhouse in the Béarn - exceptional restoration

Our farm house is located in Audaux, a listed village on the limit between Béarn and the Basque country in the heart of the Pyrénées Atlantiques part of wonderful Aquitania and its famous gastronomic specialities.

When we initially bought this typical béarnaise farm it had been abandoned for about 50 years.
This rural mainly 17th century architecture has been considerably transformed since its origin late 14th early 15th century.

We had been charmed by the beauty of this property with its farmhouse and the attached barn and decided to restore it with respect to its history. The 18th century stairs, the old stone floor in the kitchen, the 17th century windows, the old gate of the barn, the entrance door, the fire places, the huge roof construction and last but not least the stunning bread oven have been restored to their original condition.

The extraordinary work of our architect who is specialised in restoring historical buildings has been rewarded by the curator of the area. His competence allowed us to achieve the difficult restoration project.

A supplementary challenge was to combine the historical character of the building with up-to-date comfort and technical equipment. For refreshment during your summer holyday the architect managed to integrate a pool without spoiling the site.
