Within a 5 minute stroll is the Jam Inn music pub or Norma Jeans Cafe for late evening drinks. In the main town two miles away are ample quaint eateries and Antique shops - a Mecca for Antique collectors! There are probably more interesting and varied antique dealers per square foot than any other place in Florida. The Cultural Calendar knows no season. Throughout the year, Mount Dora enjoys plays at the IceHouse Theatre, concerts and recitals by international artists at the Mount Dora Festival of Music & Literature, gallery openings, and on-going exhibitions at the Mount Dora Center for the Arts. Directly behind the Center for the Arts on Royellou Lane is the Royellou Museum at the Old City Jail, providing a glimpse of Mount Dora life from the past to the present. Taking a cruise on the Dora Canal will bring you back in time. A one-mile stretch of water remains the same as it was more than 100 years ago.
There are boat rentals and Bass tournaments on the lake. On day trips from the Mount Dora Railway, you can experience the comfort and heyday of an authentic railroad passenger car, The Mount Dora Limited. The Mount Dora excursion train makes a round-trip run from Mount Dora to Tavares then back again, offering lovely views of Lake Dora, tropical foliage and wildlife from it's open window

Craft Festival October 28 & 29, 2006 Sponsored annually by the Mount Dora Merchants Association. Over 330 juried crafter's from all over the nation. Held on the streets of beautiful downtown Mount Dora with Lake Dora as the backdrop. December brings the annual Christmas Walk, for those looking for a traditional holiday feel (without the snow, of course). Where visitors can walk the cobblestone streets, visit the local shops and even take a horse and buggy ride. Santa Claus will make appearance as well many entertainers.
Golf:
For Golfers there is the adjacent Mount Dora public Golf Course.This is an old course built in 1947 with mature black oaks, Spanish moss and much charm. Dramatic changes of elevation make this course unique in Florida. This could be the best value in the entire Orlando area!This course has a few hills which is a rarity in Florida. The fairways are tight, and the greens are well manicured. The most difficult hole is #18, a par 4, with out-of-bounds stakes on the right.
