Our cottage sits on the top of a little hill, surrounded by 5 hectares of olive groves, lavender and rosemary with spectacular views of the lake and the surrounding countryside. The property is situated at the edge of the delightful medieval village of Bolsena, a location off the beaten track but nevertheless ideally situated for exploring Southern Tuscany, Umbria and Lazio. Siena and Rome are little over an hour's drive away and Orvieto (with its fabulous ornate cathedral and world class wines) just 20 minutes. With Pienza, Montepulciano, Sovana, Pitigliano, Sorano, Caprarola, Cività di Bagnoregio as well as many other picturesque villages nearby, you will find Etruscan necropolis, Medieval and Renaissance art, shops and lots of lovely restaurants. Bolsena is also the perfect location for travellers looking for genuine nature and water sports. For the feast of Corpus Christi (late May or early June), originated from a miracle that took place in Bolsena in 1263, the medieval streets are lined with a million flower petals fashioned into elaborate pictures end patterns: the 'Infiorata'. Another great cultural and religious exhibition is the feast of Santa Cristina (2 days in July), a young Chritian martyr who is the patron saint of Bolsena. The cottage is luminous, cosy and furnished with some antiques: a large open-plan sitting room with kitchen, dining area, sofa bed (for 1 adult or 2 children) and fireplace, a large double bedroom and a bathroom with a bath tub. Outside the cottage and facing the wonderful view on the lake, a spacious pergola covered with climbing roses provides shade for al fresco meals. Extensive and well maintained lawns lead to the swimming pool area where a second pergola with its elegant chaise-lounges is a comfortable alternative for relaxing in the heat of the day with beautiful views of the lake.
