Photos and Description of this Vence holiday villa 1 Master bedroom, 3 twin bedrooms, 4 bathrooms (1 bath, 3 showers).

This delightful villa is on the edge of the old walls of Vence, a picturesque medieval town with its many fine restaurants, relaxing cafés, art galleries and daily markets.The secluded garden scented with the perfume of jasmin wisteria and lavender has its own mosaic pool and palms ,orange trees and even a cherry tree.. It is situated three minutes walk from the old medieval town with its shops and festivals .A car is not necessary . For the visually discerning this is a little trip to paradise. almost a temple adorned eclectically with artifacts gleaned from an artists travels. The bedrooms are all ensuite e and two have direct access to the garden for peaceful early morning swims. The upstairs room is extremely spacious with a high ceiling and overflowing with light and has a view across the valley to the matisse chapel. At night it is like fairy land as the light round the Chateau sainte Martin twinkle from the terasse overlooking the valley.

This delightful villa is on the edge of the old walls of Vence, a picturesque medieval town wit many fine restaurants, relaxing cafés, art galleries and daily markets. Well stocked wine caves and supermarkets are within a minutes walk. Thus it has the great advantage of being within the town and yet has the tranquility of being in the country surrounded by bird song and overlooking the Matisse chapel.

  • All the bedrooms are ground floor. The master bedroom has an ensuite bathroom and opens directly onto the garden, a few steps away from the pool. Bedroom 2: Interestingly decorated also opening directly onto the garden with its own brightly coloured shower room and toilet. Bedroom 3: Although it has 2 single beds, it can be adjusted into a double bed. It also has a walk in Moroccan style shower room and toilet. There are 2 cupboards. Bedroom 4: Separate entrance, it is independent from the rest of the house, it has its own breakfast area and writing desk. It has its own shower and toilet. It would be ideally suited for teenagers.

Pros:
The villa was in a very central location within walking distance of all the retaurants and amenities of the town.

The outside was lovely. It has a good size pool and the garden is very secluded.

The main living area was very spacious.

Cons:
Our major niggle is that it is not pointed out in the details that you cannot park at the house. There is an underground car park nearby but that is not usable if you have a car with a roof box. There is another car park a little further away but the cost is 14euros per 24 hours. There is free parking a longer walk away at the swimming pool but it was always full when we tried to get in. During our stay there were concerts going on it the town centre and on one evening with the town centre closed we had to drive around for ages until we eventally found a place on the edge of town. I think it should be pointed out at the time of booking that there is no parking available.

Other minor niggles were that the house was overcluttered with the owners possessions and that it didn't seem particularly clean (cobwebs in the master bathroom) A bit much when you are paying an extra 150 euros for cleaning.

The villa has a fabulous position - 2mins walk from a number orf restaurants and a good supermarket. The garden was completely un overlooked so offered perfect tranquility. My only slight disappointment was the bathrooms as they didn't really give the impression of being hygenically clean and the lack of natural light made it very difficult for my husband to shave. Overall all though it was a great holiday.
Recommended for:  Tourists without a Car, Families with Teenagers
