Fanjeaux holiday cottage: Fanjeaux

A detached 3-bedroom house within a converted farm housing a small holiday complex (30 persons max) The large pool (12.5m by 5m (max) 3m (min) and paddling pool 2.5m by 2.5m are set within a fully enclosed pool area with a terrace with loungers, shared with other occupants. A separate and secluded garden area comes with its own patio furniture and barbacue. Covered hangar housing table tennis table and badminton area, petanque etc. Swing set with swing, trapeze and double rings. We have a large wooded area to stroll through and a small summer resident's bar where we serve food in the evening. Our local village, Fanjeaux has a small supermarket, bakery, butchers, pharmacy, bar tabac, restaurant, tea room and post office. As well as being the thirtenth pole of the Pays Cathare (Cathar country) the village has the most amazing views in most directions, and on a clear day you can see 7 different departments from le Seignadou. Just down the road is Mirepoix, with it's medieval arcaded square and beautiful 'colombage' houses. The market on Monday morning is well-known and very popular. Carcassonne is only 30 minutes away and it's Cité is a World Heritage site as is the Canal du Midi which runs through Carcassonne and along the plains down the hill from Fanjeaux. As well as numerous historical sites, the whole area is peppered with places offering different leisure and sporting activities. Try white water rafting, canoeing, canyoning or gorge walking. Explore the countryside along one of the numerous hiking and cycling trails, spend an afternoon meandering along the Canal on an electric boat or hacking gently through the hills on horseback. Find a bargain in one of the many 'brocante' fairs held throughout the year, visit a local festival or one of the numerous vineyards offering wine-tasting and tours. La Chevaline is only 25 minutes from Carcassonne airport and one hour from Toulouse. The A61 autoroute has an exit at Bram, 10 minutes away.
