The property offers 8'000 m² of fenced wood on a hill on the northern coast of Sicily. It is a quiet place, very charming. The house - surrounded by trees and flowering garden, with a lovely private pool (6x12 m), in the typical style of the rural Sicily, simply and tastefully furnished - is on 2 levels: entrance, over a terrace with a large marble table, the kitchen area, living-dining room, full bathroom with shower/WC, bright loft with double bed and romantic window, external kitchen with dining area. By a few steps you reach the sleeping area with a twin-beds room, bathroom with tube/WC, a double-bed room with French door leading to the large covered terrace, a small area with bathroom with shower/WC, and a top terrace with panoramic view of the sea. It is near a beautiful sandy beach (7,5 km), next to Cefalù (15 km), not far from Palermo (60 km). It is a strategic base-camp to visit the whole Sicily: it is 230 km from Taormina, 160 km from Agrigento and 210 km from Syracuse.

An impressive rock dominates Cefalù, charming little North coast town, one of the most ancient Greek town in Sicily, rebuilt in the Norman period by Ruggero II. It offers one of Sicily's most magnificent Norman cathedrals known for its grand array of Byzantine-Norman mosaics completed in 1148. It offers also a wonderful long beach which attracts large numbers of travellers from all over the world. Cefalù is very close to the large protected area of the Parco delle Madonie, the Sicily's greatest national park, that offers a unique interesting landscape and the possibility to go hiking to enjoy an unusual aspect of Sicily.

The Tyrrhenian Coast of Sicily : Visit Cefalù, enjoy the other beautiful beaches of the coast between Cefalù e Capo d’Orlando. But the island is not all coastline: dip into the hinterlands to discover the ancient towns on the Madonie Mountains as Gratteri, Castelbuono, Gangi, Polizzi Generosa, le Petralie. These villages evoke the Middle Ages and the fiefdom of the ruling Ventimiglia families who presided over post-Angevin Sicily. It is an unexpected side of Sicily and there is no better place to picnic in the summer.

South Sicily: Agrigento: Containing the largest and greatest collection of ancient Greek ruins in all the world, The Valley of the Temples, outside the city of Agrigento, opening onto the Southern coast of Sicily, is one of the most memorable and evocative sights of the ancient world. The temples are stunning and the most impressive ones are those dedicated to Juno (from the mid-5th c. B.C.) and to Concord. Concord is the most magnificent of all, with 13 wind-eroded columns still standing.

It is located at hillside cradled between the Madonie mountains and the Tyrrhenian sea, a few kilometres from Cefalù, less from the house.

Excellent private villa with caring owner

We (a family with three sons 13/11/8) decided to go to Sicily at the end of July. The owner was happy to accommodate us on our rather odd 9 day holiday.

We met the owner in Lascari who drove us to the villa, a little off the beaten track in the hillsides above the town. It was a little disconcerting but once we saw the villa it really didn't matter as it was so much better than is described here. It has a great view over to the coast and is completely private with no other property overlooking it in anyway that we could see (except perhaps by telescope from a far away hill!).

The place is spacious and comfortable. The owner has all sorts of extra things that make you feel at home, from dishwasher and washing machine to a pad to write your shopping list and hairdryer. There are a number of guidebooks and dictionaries as well.

There is air-conditioning for the evenings in the bedrooms but even though it was bakingly hot when we were there, you don't really need it because of the clever design of the patios around the house that help keep things cool inside.

Loads of crockery, cutlery, pans etc and a multiplicity of places to eat so that you can enjoy food outside (where we were surprised by how few mosquitoes there were) away from direct sun.

Ah the pool, absolutely fantastic (10*5m ish) with a 2.75m depth end and a small diving board. I finally learned to tread water properly! The water itself is crystal clear and barely smells of any chlorine.

The town of Lascari itself has the basic amenities including a take away pizzeria, and it is simple to get to two very good sandy beaches with many interesting pebbles. You can get easy access to the coast road (SS113) and to the motorway/autostrada A19/A20 - which has some great tunnel sections. Going the otherway via a Sat Nav to Cefalu takes you over some interestingly steep roads!

The nice windy road to Castelbuono off the SS113 isn't far away, and close to the intersection there is a hidden pebbly beach.

From the villa you can get EGPRS with providers TIM and WIND, and 3G from the beach, so it is still possible to stay in contact with the rest of the Internet. The owner provides phones in the house on a meter if you really needed it (with useful telephone directories).

The owner speaks excellent English and quick with email replies. I *fully* recommend this villa to any family for a relaxing holiday and as a base to see the excellent coast.

We had a really good time.

geplegtes Haus mit schönem Pool, prima Austattung

Wir haben in diesem sehr gepflegten Anwesen zwei Wochen verbracht. Die freundlichen und sehr hilfsbereiten Eigentümer haben uns in alle Details gut eingewiesen. Sie prachen übrigens gut deutsch und englisch. Das Haus ist sehr gut ausgerüstet mit allem was das verwöhnte Herz begehrt: von der Wasch-, Spühlmaschine uber Toaster, riesen Kühlschrank bis hin zur Mikrowelle ist alles vorhanden. Mehrere Außenterassen, eine sogar mit einer zusätzlichen Küche laden zum verweilen ein. Da das Haus wärmetechnisch sehr geschickt gebaut ist, haben wir die Klimaanlage im August nicht gebraucht. Vielleicht der einzige Wehrmutstropfen ist die Entfernung zum Meer aber dafür gibt es ja den phantastischen Pool, den wir in vollen Zügen genossen haben. Wir würden jeder Zeit gerne wieder kommen.
