Casa Fantone is a large detached Tuscan farmhouse, 300 years old, remodelled and updated with a wide private garden of 5 hectares and a private pool of 6 x 12 meters. The villa lies in a quiet hill near Poppi village, 30 km to Arezzo and 50 to Florence, and it has a good level of furniture. The villa has modern kitchen and bathroom facilities, but it still gives one the feeling of stepping back in history. The villa, made by stones, is exposed to the sun and it has a fantastic view on the Casentino valley. Absolute privacy and a maximum of security are guaranteed, also because the property is fenced in and the access is possible only through an automatic gate. A typical Tuscan terrace close to the kitchen can be an opportunity to have your breakfast or to drink a glass of Chianti with your friends looking down at the beautiful valley. In the terrace you will also discover an ancient baking oven which could hold at least 20 pizzas at a time. If only those walls could talk!

  • ATTENTION: rental rates are enough to rent all the first floor of the villa, that is: 4 bedrooms plus 2 bathrooms ( 8 + 2 people ).
    At the ground level another bedroom with a bathroom ( 2 people ). Euro 200/week are necessary to rent also this room.
    DISCOUNT for little party: 2 people 10% discount; 4 people 5% discount.
  • All services are included in the price (electricity, hot water, gas, firewood, linen, towels, final cleaning, taxes, bicycles and all facilities) except the heating to be paid depending on consumption. Usually you have to send a deposit of 200 - 300 Euro depending on the total amount. Balance at your arrival or at the welcome breakfast (first Monday).
  • Booking procedure: You receive the contract form (Excel sheet) by email; you have to fill in the form and send it back by e-mail.

Notes: The villa has 5 bedrooms for 10 people. But in one of them, the big bedroom (about 40 sq m), there are 2 other beds for a total of 12 people. The 3 bedrooms with 2 single beds can each be arranged as matrimonial rooms. Fitness facilities, hammocks, table tennis, table football and bicycles are available and free of charge. A little football field for children is also available. The same field can be utilized as a volley field and it is also available a table basket. The shower room is an external shower with hot and cold water. You can have your meals or drinks outside the villa using some specific tables. One of these is also protected against the sun. Other games for children are available. A garage is available for 1 car.

Hospitality: The property is rented to only one party and only the people of the party live in the villa. The owner lives in a little village 2.5 km far from the house. He is satisfied of his work only if their guests have no problems: friendliness, a welcome basket with some local products, a welcome breakfast introducing them Casentino valley and Tuscany; any information and help are offered. The owner will care for everything that is necessary to allow Casa Fantone’s guests a good holiday.The welcome basket contains also a bottle of Casa Fantone organic 'olio extra vergine di oliva'. Houseguests can taste natural fruit and vegetables from the garden, when they are available.

Shops: The nearest villages are S. Martino and Quota, 2,5 km far from the villa, in which there are grocery shops and a bar. In Quota there is also a family restaurant. Supermarkets and any other kind of shop are in Ponte a Poppi, 5 km far. In Bibbiena, 8 km, there is a wide and new commercial centre: 'COOP of Casentino'. There is also the Casentino valley hospital. Every day of the week there is an outdoor market in some of Casentino's villages. Tuesday is the Ponte a Poppi day for its open market. The fourth Saturday of each month, in Bibbiena, it’s possible to buy agricultural produce directly from the producer. Every first week end of the month in Arezzo there is an important fair of antiques. It's possible to buy little quantity of the villa organic olive oil. It's possible to buy Chianti wine.

Amazing New Year holidays at Casa Fantone!

We had really amazing New Year holidays at Casa Fantone!

The property itself is very authentic and two fireplaces make the
whole atmosphere more than cosy.

Being born in Siberia (a very cold place, you know ) the New Year's
night was quit mild for us, but a Christmas Tree and ?hristmas decorations kindly offered by Gianfranco and enormous inflatable Babbo Natalle (hope I'm right at spelling it) carried from home (and presented to the owner) made our night very homey and unforgettable.

Our holiday meal was also of no small importance and the reason for it
was the biggest wood stove we ever saw. We made 8 pizzas and the whole process from kindling the fire to eating real Italian pizzas was amazing!

We are really lack of words to describe Gianfranco's hospitality! We were even invited to his lovely home to a welcome breakfast and got acquainted with his caring wife (I think it is needles to say that the meal was fantastic!).

Gianfranco, we would like to thank you once again for the great time
we had at Casa Fantone and your hospitality! We all hope to come back in summer to enjoy fruits from your garden and spectaculars view from the swimming pool.

Absolutely Fabulous!

Casa Fantone is a Tuscan jewel. The setting is beautiful, the house is immaculate and Gianfranco and his wife are warm, charming and helpful. Our group of six consisited of four adults and two children age eight and eleven. Everyone found something fun to do including a lot of pool time and ping pong play off (be warned, the ping pong balls are easy to lose!) Day trips to Florence, Arrezo and Cortona were easy and there was the pool to cool off in when we got back. Gianfranco was available anytime we needed help arranging a surprise birthday party in Quota or just making dinner reservations in Italian for us. The breakfast was so delicious. It was nice to have time to visit with out host and hostess. The restaurant in Quota we found to be quite charming. La Torricella and Casentino in Poppi were both more upscale and enjoyable as well. All in all we would highly recommend Casa Fantone and are definitly planning to return.

Es gibt sicher wenig schönere Alternativen wie dieses einmalige Ferienhaus von Gianfranco. Der große Garten mit Gemüse und reifen Früchten verwöhnte unsere Fotogruppe mit 10 Teilnehmern. Nicht zu vergessen das Willkommensfrühstück bei Gianfranco und seiner Frau zu Hause mit toskanischen Spezialitäten. Unser Srinter musste 2 Tage in die Werkstatt nach Arezzo. Hier organisierte und telefonierte Gianfranco und fuhr uns sogar nach Poppi zum Einkaufen.
Das Haus liegt in einer einmaligen Landschaft, ideal zum Wandern und Ausflüge ins Casentino zu unternehmen.

The description of the house is correct. The house is clean and located in a beautiful landscape, without neighbors. The pool was great and the children did enjoy a lot.
But, the presence of the owner was a bit disturbing the romance of our holiday. He showed up every day at different moments without a plausible reason to us. The second but last day at 10AM he even stood on the terrace at the rear of the house. This made us leave a day earlier.
Owner's Response: This year we had no rain in July and August. So at the end of August I ( the owner ) had to give water to the young olive trees of the property, about 200 meters from the villa.
I spent at my village, Monday morning of that week, with my guests for the welcome breakfast. This means to be on familiar terms with them. So, as i wrote to them, if my presence was a problem, they had to tell me it.
