Exceptional holiday cottage to rent at Le Mas d'Azil, south of Toulouse, in the Ariège, at the foot of the Pyrenees. The garden of delicate colours and fragrances with the terrace overlooking the river is the perfect place to laze and enjoy the singing of birds and the murmuring of water. In the surroundings the idyllic countryside of light woodland and meadows with an amazing diversity of wild fauna and flora is a walkers' and naturalists' paradise, while20quiet country roads are ideal for cycling. Excursions offer the opportunity to discover not only the extraordinary beauty of the wild landscape of the Pyrenees, but also the Cathar castles, especially Montségur, the famous Niaux cave with its expressive drawings of animals, St-Lizier and its cathedral and lovely cloister, Mirepoix, Foix, Toulouse or Carcassonne, and plenty of smaller yet equally charming places. In the village itself you will find a swimming pool and three tennis courts out in the open on the banks of the Arize.

Le Mas d'Azil, a mediaeval village of about 1000 inhabitants, situated in the gentle hills of the Plantaurel, at the foot of the French Pyrenees, with its gigantic prehistoric cave, one of the most beautiful sites of the region. In the surroundings the idyllic countryside of light woodland and meadows with an amazing diversity of wild fauna and flora is a walkers' and naturalists' paradise, while quiet country roads are ideal for cycling.
