UNESCO world heritage sites (mediaeval city and Canal du midi), from the soothing atmosphere of this beautifully situated studio. The large bay window faces south towards the garden, and the terrace will allow you to enjoy a meal outside while keeping fresh under the shade of the trees. You will also have access to your own fully equipped kitchen and your bathroom. As the region benefits from a particularly pleasant climate, the swimming pool proves to be a formidable asset through most of the year (cf. pictures). This 35m2 (380ft2) studio is independent from the main villa, and offers a fantastic view on the20garden, a former vineyard which now features its small rose garden and a number of fruit and pine trees. It is 6 miles away from Carcassonne; bikes and tandem are at your disposal during your stay.

The picturesque village of Ventenac-Cabardès is but a few hundred yards down the hill, with its local businesses, post office and tennis courts, and outlooks the Pyrénées and the Montagne Noire in the distance. With the region being a major wine producing area in France, many vineyards around are open to the public for visits and wine tasting sessions. With the Cathar castles a stone's throw away, as well as the Gouffre géant de Cabrespine (a spectacular geologic curiosity) and Montolieu (often referred to as the "Village of Books"), the possibilities of day trips will seem endless. During the summer, the Festival of Carcassonne offers numerous shows and performances, free for most of them, in both the medieval Cité and in the lower town. All the excitement of a vibrant region from this haven of tranquility!
