Our town:
La Escala is situated on the Mediterranean, 50 km south of the French-Spanish border and 140 km north of Barcelona. It is a historic town with Greek and Roman ruins. Many picturesque walks in a traffic free environment. It has 6 clean and safe beaches offering every water sport. A mere 10 minutes walk will get you to town beach and there are several blue flag beaches. The local town has a host of restaurants, bars, supermarkets and shops. There are discotheques ten minutes walk away.
Travel by air:
Escala is now served by three airports - Girona is about an hour away and Barcelona two hours away. Perpignan is about an hour away.
Surface transport:
By Coach: To Figueres (Eurolines/Julia) then taxi. By Car: Routes through France via Lyons. Cross French/Spanish border on motorway A9/A7, take exit 5 sign posted Escala. From N11 (2) at border (Le Perthus) then at Figueres take exit marked Escala/La Bisbal. Train: Link with French TGV change at Montpellier/Narbonne train across border alight at Figueres then taxi.
Ski:
Skiing is possible in season but is a few hours drive away either in the Spanish/French Pyrenees ountains.
Golf:
We have at least eight superb championship 18 hole golf courses within a 30 minute drive of the town by car. There is a pitch and putt at Torroella de Montgri, which is 10 mins by car.
