Leisure activities:
There are safe, sandy beaches all along the coast line, with seafood restaurants alongside to sample the freshly caught shell fish. Walking and cycling enthusiasts have a good choice of both coastal and inland walks. There are numerous places to visit including the Abbey at Le Mont St Michel, walled city of St Malo, tapestry at Bayeux, and the WWII D Day Landing Beaches. In addition to visiting the many churches and châteaux you can also visit a local bell foundry, local farms where they make cheese, honey and calvados. Zoos, aquariums, miniature railways, wind surfing, horse riding and sailing are some of the attractions on offer. Daily markets in nearby towns are a must to sample all local produce. From Granville and Barneville Carteret it's possible to travel by ferry to the Channel Islands during the summer and all year round from St Malo. Trains run from Coutances and Granville to Paris and EuroDisney. Swimming pool, Ice skating rink and bowling alley at Coutances just 5 kms away
Worthwhile visiting all year round:
La Manche in Normandy is a good place to visit all year round - why not take a short break in February and enjoy the Mardi Gras celebrations, or in May when there is a week long music festival all through the streets of Coutances.
Golf:
There are a number of golf courses nearby: Agon Coutainville, 9 km, St Martin de Brehal 18 km, and Breville, near Granville, is at 30 km. All these golf courses are close to the beach giving the families of keen golfers the opportunity to be able to enjoy the beach at the same time! Good facilities for all the family, especially at Agon Coutainville where there is a bar and restaurant at the club.
