St. Ansano is an old country house surrounded by 144 acres of Mediterranean woods, home to a number of species of wildlife. The estate is crossed by a stream, named Le Caldanelle, rich of hot springs. Guests can walk in the woods, have a bath in the stream and relax in this magic environment. Less than 1 mile away the Bagni di Petriolo are available: this is an old spa whose origins go back to the early 13th century, very well known for its therapeutic waters. Its guests included members of the Medici and Gonzaga families, cardinals, dukes, not to mention the most famous customer of all, i.e. Pope Pious II -- Enea Silvio Piccolomini. Here, those interested can get a specialized treatment for various respiratory, dermatologic, otorinolaryngoiatric and osteo-articulary pathologies.
The country house is located on a scenic overview of the Farma Valley. It is well-equipped with all sorts of comforts and elegantly furnished. Guests have access to an old wood oven and a huge garden, with barbecue tables and chairs and can take long walks in the woods. Alternatively, guests can take day trips to a number of art cities nearby, including Siena(37 km), Florence(100 km)), Pienza (40 miles), or visit Montalcino, home to the world-famous Brunello wine (30 miles), or spend a day at the beach in Talamone (45 miles), in exclusive Punta Ala (60 miles) or the more popular Castiglione della Pescaia (40 miles).
