Located in an unspoilt corner of the French Alps, Chalet Vif is a perfect location for a winter or summer vacation, with breathtaking views over the Aravis mountain range. The Chalet is built in traditional Alpine style on 3 floors with 4 bedrooms. There are 2 balconies, one off the main bedroom and one off the large lounge. The south facing aspect ensures plenty of sun and gives stunning views of the Aravis mountain range and the surrounding countryside. The town is still very much considered a hidden secret within the French Alps with its lovely village shops, church, tree lined square and regular market. There is a thriving community throughout the year and the summers as much as the winters have become popular for both outdoor sports and relaxing in the sunshine. The chalet has easy access to the ski lift network of Le Grand Bornand, and La Clusaz is just a 10-minute drive away. Nordic skiing opportunities also are excellent.

The Chalet is located at approximately 1100 meters high in the Aravis mountain range of the French Alps overlooking the picturesque town of Le Grand Bornand. A conscious decision to develop only traditional style chalet has preserved the look of the area. You can walk into the town in about 15 minutes down a quiet lane or catch the free ski bus just a few yards from the Chalet which will take you down to Le Grand Bornand, or up to Le Chinaillon

    The Chalet will be available for you from 4pm on the day of your arrival, and you are kindly asked to vacate the Chalet by 10am on the day of your departure.
    Arrangements can be made for clients who wish to ski on the day of their arrival, leaving their baggage in the garage whilst the Chalet is being cleaned and prepared for their stay.

  • All bedrooms are nicely furnished and are complete with duvets, bed linen and towels. This is our own private home so it is kept to a high standard throughout. 3 of the bedrooms look directly out on to the mountains and the fourth looks onto a meadow behind the chalet.

Notes: The Chalet has all the facilities you would need for a comfortable holiday. The kitchen is well equipped and in the garage you will find a professional-standard ski boot dryer which will dry and warm all your ski boots and walking boots each night/morning. Also in the garage are badminton rackets with shuttlecocks, a fold-up table-tennis table with bats and balls, and boules. The chalet has beautiful views and the location is quiet. The distance to the town centre is 1km along a quiet lane - a leisurely 15 minute walk. The free ski bus stop is 200m from the chalet and it takes approximately 10 minutes to reach the foot of the ski slopes at Chinaillon, with lovely views en route..

Skiing: Over 200km of pistes skiing in the Aravis range. All types of skiing are available with pistes to suit all abilities including the 2nd steepest black run in Europe. Queues are rare and the area has a good snow record. Snow cannons extending the ski season which lasts from December 15 to April 15 but often open earlier and later. Direct access to the lift network is in the middle of Le Grand Bornand and the snow bus stops only a few metres away at the end of the lane, giving access to Chinaillon, La Clusaz and St Jean De Sixt. The area has 120 pistes, including 5 black, 30 red, 45 blue and 40 green runs. There are 98 ski lifts, 2 snow parks, 2 competition stadiums and night skiing. The Aravis ski pass is great value and covers all the resorts in the area.

Summer Activities: A wide range of activities are available including mountain walks, parapenting, archery, trampolining, petanque, tennis, table tennis, mountain biking, horse riding, white water rafting, canyoning, hot air ballooning, fishing, karting and snooker. There is an extensive outdoor swimming pool complex in the village. Golfers are well catered for with a 9 hole course in Le Grand Bornand and several 18 hole courses within an hours drive. The beautiful city of Annecy and its lake with beaches is only 40 mins away by car.

Chalet Vif was the perfect property for our long weekend boarding in Le Grand Bornand.

The chalet had everything we could have asked for, beautiful views over the valley and cable car, large spacious rooms, constant hot water to ease our aching bones and easy access to the centre of the village and the gorgeous patisseries.

We hated having to leave and would return in an instant. We would definitely book the chalet again.

It has now been our 3rd time to the Grand Bornand and to stay at the Chalet Vif and will not be our last.... The chalet is like home from home with all your comfort and needs. We are a family of four and love our skiing and when returning back to the warm chalet and chilling out on the sofa it was so relaxing. The snow was fantastic this year again and we took advantage of going to La Cluses whilst we had the 2 weeks there and what an amazing place. This took only about a 10 - 15 minute drive or in the town there are buses that can take you, well worth going. On the Whole it was yet again a great family holiday

A real home from home experience. Very comfortable and a good location for a ski holiday with the convenience of a Ski bus 3 mins walk away or altneratively using your car a good location to other piste resorts.

The accomodation met our needs with a clean comfortable apartment complimented with generous amount of equipment for self catering. I would certainly recommend this to all. We ate out at La Boheme in the town of Grand Bornand which was good food and no smoking. Ideally you need to drive to town but it is only 5 minutes away so you could walk if you have the energy after a full day of skiing.
