Location: Manche in France
The cottage is in a small hamlet on a hill 60m above sealevel in the river Saire valley in the north east of La Manche. The very quiet hamlet consists of 3 farms and 5 houses surrounded by small fields and hedges, often bordered by tracks full of wildlife and beauty. Joulines, the hamlet, is only 2km from the nearest village Quettehou, where there are two supermarkets, plenty of shops, a bank, a postoffice and a tourist information centre. St. Vaast la Hougue and its marina and shops is only 4km distant. Here and in Barfleur (10km) there is plenty of life around the fishing boats, the marina and the restaurants and cafés. Within easy driving distance one can go to many sandy beaches ideal for children for bathing and rock fishing. Cherbourg is 35km away and the northern and western coastlines are within easy reach by car. Bayeux and its tapestry, Caen and the Memorial museum, the D-Day landing beaches, Mont St Michel and many other sites are all possible to visit in a day.
