Both properties of Rocciaviva are situated highly dramatic above the Umbrian valley 600 m above sea level. The view over the 10th century castle of Campello is breathtaking. The buildings, renovated/designed by architect Martin Stubenrauch, are the ideal spot for people who want to be surrounded by an impeccably designed space with both charm and sophistication. Enhancing the simplicity of this 16th century farmhouse with contemporary architectural innovation has created the spacious and light filled Rocciaviva Apartment that is informal yet refined with an emphasis on comfort, warmth and peacefulness. Good things come in small packages in the Rocciaviva Atelier - a stylish loft in the midst of a peaceful Mediterranean forest. The architect used his love of clean lines and open light filled spaces in partnership with his sensibility for the Umbrian tradition – the entire place becomes a celebration of breathtaking views over the castle of Campello (wireless internet access included).

Seeing is believing! Once you step foot inside Rocciaviva Atelier that has some of the whimsical qualities of a tree house combined with the stylishness of a Soho loft, you’ll immediately feel at home with the beautiful travertine floors, custom made doors and windows, and above all, the fine sense for design. A contemporary aesthetic mixed with all the warmth of the old world (of course it is also fully heated). The kitchen is fully equipped with marble counter, dishwasher, stove, oven, refrigerator and complete cooking utensils - all it takes to prepare and enjoy delicious Italian meals at home. You will wake up to the same breathtaking view you fell asleep to when the medieval castle below was splendidly lit. The open sleeping loft has a generous closet space and a double bed with European style feather comforters. It is absolutely quiet and peaceful (wireless internet access included).

Campello is located 15 km north of Spoleto and 35 km south of Assisi. Rocciaviva lies above the 10th century Castle of Campello with its best preserved medieval city wall of Umbria. We live in Rocciaviva ourselves and consider this spot one of the most beautiful ones of the area. There is no morning in which we would not pinch ourselves to believe how breathtaking the view out of our windows can be. What used to be the weather has now become a forever new theatrical performance. At a distance of 10-20 minutes by car you find all possibilities of shopping or restaurants. Numerous daytrips are 30- 60 minutes away, Spoleto, Assisi, Todi, Orvieto and Perugia, but also less known gems such as Montefalco, Bevagna, Sassovivo or Norcia, just to name a few. You can start hikes directly from Rocciaviva and within 30 minutes you are truly in the mountains. If you need a big city, you can go to Rome by train from Spoleto (75 min.).

The owners: The American choreographer and sculptor Karen Bamonte (New York) and the German architect and artist Martin Stubenrauch (Munich) have lived and worked in one of the apartments of Rocciavia on the adjacent property below since the year 1998. Ms. Bamonte exhibits her work both in Europe and the U.S. Mr. Stubenrauch is a practising architect in Umbria where he has created numerous projects and has shown his paintings in shows in Italy and Germany.
