Beside the modern furnished apartments the outside facilities - well shaped by the owners Stella and Michalis Velonakis - are a feast for the eyes. Bright colours and a decorated floridity are forming a delightful contrast to the Mediterranean blue and white of the buildings. Nearly like a blister the houses are placed on the slope above Mirthios. But it's no problem to reach them - afoot as well as by car. A short walk of approximately three minutes leads you down into the pictorial mountain village underneath the impressing Kotsifou ravine. Beside some recommendable taverns with their panorama terraces there are also two Mini markets with a small offer of food and beverages as well as souvenir shops with Cretan arts & crafts. Plakias and the sea with its long and sandy beach can be attained after a short walk of about 15 minutes. The way leads down the mountain by numerous olive groves.
Ideal starting point for daily trips :
By car the distance is scarcely 3 kilometres over the asphalted road down to Plakias. There you find all convenience goods, many tourist facilities, in addition a doctor and a pharmacy. Off course we give a hand to you upon renting a car (incl. airport service) at favourable rates. Because of the unique locality nearly in the centre of the island Villa Stella is the ideal starting point for daily trips into all directions and to the many objects of interest on Crete. E.g. the north coast with the beautiful seaport Rethymnon is only about 35 km away. The distance to Chania Airport is about 100 km, to Iraklio Airport nearly ca. 120 km.
