Villa Pontesecco is a modern one floor construction located on the hills surrounding the historic small town of Castelbuono. In ten minutes you can walk to the animated centre of town. In thirty minutes you can drive to the beautiful sea coast or to the awesome Madonie Mountains. The view spans from the Mediterranean Sea to the peaks of the Madonie Mountains. Telephone connection allows guests with a laptop access to internet. Franca, Matteo and Silvana, the property owners, live in a villa nearby and are ready anytime to help guests with assistance or advice. Silvana is known for preparing luscious Sicilian breakfasts: these can be enjoyed for an extra charge.

The villa is composed by two bedrooms, one bathroom with shower and a spacious living room (24 sq. m.) with cooking and dining area. They are designed to host two people each. A crib can be added in the larger bedroom. A stretch bed, for an extra guest, can be placed in the living room.

Castelbuono, a town of 10,000 people, located at 450 m altitude, is the main centre of the Madonie Mountains region. Renaissance buildings witness the historic past. Most famous is the Princes castle, now a museum. Castelbuono is extremely well situated for visits and excursions: drive 17 km and you reach the beaches on the Mediterranean, 5 more km and you are in Cefalu, a splendid sea town, world renown for its architecture and its fine sandy beach. Regular bus services connect the two towns. Traveling west, by car, bus or train a further 60 km and you are in Palermo. An advantage of being at Villa Pontesecco is the vicinity of the mountains with peaks over 1900 m. Nature is at its purest level with oak woods which are 500 years old. It is a paradise for trekking or leisure walking. The whole Madonie Regional Park can be visited by car: a good network of asphalt roads reaches secluded natural sites and small historic towns. Castelbuono and the whole region are a gourmet paradise.

Pontesecco 1 und 2 sind meiner Meinung nach einzigartig. Die Fotos halten was sie versprechen, die Gastgeber sind supernett, die Umgebung ist pittoresk. Für ans Meer muss man zwar eine halbe Stunde Fahrtzeit in Angriff nehmen, aber wenn einem abends die kühlere Landluft ins Gesicht strömt, weiß man, dass es sich gelohnt hat. Wer Ruhe sucht ist im Pontesecco am richtigen Platz und für feine Abendessen ist man in zehn Minuten zu Fuß im Centro storico. (Myriam Vetsch aus Bern)
Auch wir sind von der Villa Pontesecco völlig begeistert. Das Haus ist einmalig schön und ruhig oberhalb des alten Ortes gelegen mit Aussichten von den Bergen bis zum Meer. Die Umgebung ist wunderschön und bietet viele Möglichkeiten für Ausflüge und Wanderungen. Gleichzeitig lässt sich von hier aus der Norden und die Mitte der Insel gut erkunden. Die Wohnungen sind neu und modern eingerichtet, und die überaus netten Gastgeber sind stets bestrebt, jeden Wunsch zu erfüllen. (Jochen Halfmann und Yoko Rothe, Berlin)

einfach Unterkunft in hübschem Ort

Gar nicht so leicht zu finden auf einer Anhöhe am Ortsrand in einem Garten, der eher einem Acker ähnelt - was wohl typisch ist - befindet sich das Haus, das aus 2 nebeneinander liegende Ferienwohnungen besteht. Einfach eingerichtet und sauber mit wunderbarem Ausblick von einer überdachten Terrasse fehlte uns an nichts. Der Verwalter(?) war sehr hilfsbereit und gab uns viele Tipps, was es sich lohnt anzuschauen udn wo die besten Badestellen sind. In den teils malerischen Ort (die Fußgängerzone und das Castello sind richtig schön) ist es nicht weit und einen guten Kilometer bergauf gibt es eine Ranch, wo man gut und günstig essen kann. Ohne Auto ist man trotz Ortsnähe aber ehr nicht so gut dran. Der nächste Bahnhof ist erst bei Cefalu (etwa 15 km) und die meisten Sehenswürdigkeiten wie der Ätna oder Taormina sind doch recht weit weg. Abends kann man die Geckos auf der Terrasse beobachten und es ist herrlich ruhig. Nur manchmal gehen morgens die Glocken des nahen Klosters, was ja eher romantisch ist. Abends sieht man das beleuchtete Castello.

Villa Pontesecco

Wir waren jetzt, Anfang Okt eine Woche in Pontesecco. Matteo, der Vermieter ist sehr nett. Die Wohnung ist klein, fein und sauber. Wer vor hat zu Kochen .. hier eher nicht. Ist nur eine Kaffeeküche. Kein Ofen. Man hängt sich schon arg auf der Pelle. Ist alles sehr klein. Mit zwei Personen ok. Ab drei wird's eng. Matteo hat ein offenes WLAN aus seinem Haus gleich nebenan. Klappte anfangs ganz gut. Youtube lief problemlos. Nach kräftigem Saugen wurde der Router dann anscheinend gebremst.
Oft lag das Haus in den Wolken, während an der Küste die Sonne schien. Dank Heizlüfter haben wir nicht gefroren. Ohne wäre es nicht gegangen.
Man muss schon immer ordentlich fahren, um vom Berg runter zu kommen. Der abendliche Corso in Castelbueno ist immer nett gewesen ca. 10 Min. Restaurants Lala. Pizza ok sonst eher rustikal. Nix für Gourmets, wie in vielen Teilen Siziliens. Die Küche ist doch eher sehr einfach. Bis auf die Nachspeisen und Sweets, die sind einfach klasse´.
Trip Zeiten : Cefalu 45 Minuten, da kann man nett abhängen. Palermo 75 Minuten Cool, Cool. Aetna 3 Std, weit weit.
Summa summarum, sehr perönliche und interessante Eindrücke von Sizilien sind hängengeblieben.
Wir fahren da noch mal hin.
