Spa It's within walking distance 5 minutes on foot

The pureness of the sea water on this part of the Tuscan coast, awarded the European “Blue Flag”, is an extraordinary natural resource which our Center exploits to bring health and relaxation to its Guests. The sea water utilized in the pools, showers and hydro-massage of the SPA is gathered at 900 meters from the coast and filtered with the use of modern technologies to guarantee its quality and to enhance it’s benefits. Thalasso Therapy (from the Greek “Thalassa”, sea) is an ancient and effective method of relaxation based on the use of all marine resources: sea water, climate, seaweed, sea mud and sand. Sea water contains a variety of minerals, salts and other oligo elements fundamental for the human organism to function and generate beneficial anti-stress, relaxing and revitalizing effects. Ancient civilizations like those of the Egyptians, Greeks and the Romans where aware of the sea's healing properties long before the development of the modern hydrothermal science and techniques

Itineraries on horseback distance: 600 metres

The road which winds through the green heart of the Costa degli Etruschi from Livorno to the edge of the Grosseto Maremma constitutes the route for a journey in close harmony with the sunny nature of this land. Travelling along the horseback trail is an experience which involves above all the senses. The Costa degli Etruschi, where asphalt and traffic do not exist, is a privileged world where time cannot be hurried and speed is an unknown word. Light and shadows accompany horse and rider through the beauty of a spacious, bright country landscape, cooled and protected by ancient holm-oak woods. Much of the route travels along ridges overlooking the blue of the sea and the outlines of islands, as well as the rolling terrain which characterizes the hinterland. Stretches of high ground alternate with moments of total immersion in the vegetation. Salty winds are tempered by the Mediterranean scrub; shrubs and leaves give off scented oils and resins, making the air aromatic. Lo Sperone.

Cycling tourism

The Costa degli Etruschi offers some of the most ideal space, roads and atmosphere for bicycle riding in Italy. It is a bike-friendly place where everyone, from families with children to cycling tourists, to amateur and professional riders, can find everything a cyclist could possibly hope for when setting off on a ride. The Costa degli Etruschi runs from Livorno to Piombino and includes the Metaliferous Hills. It is the place to travel along truly typical Tuscan roads, to discover roads that seem designed just for cyclists, to train in complete peace. A wide variety of landscapes and routes lead to the famous art centres of the interior, such as Volterra and Massa Marittima.

The bolgheri wildlife refuge and Rimigliano

A naturalistic jewel and the first WWF wildlife refuge in Italy, this internationally recognised wetland is home to thousands of aquatic birds from November to May. Dabchicks, red heron, mallards, coots and other species nest here, while migratory birds such as the white heron, snipe and black stork stop to rest. The Bolgheri marshes whose beauty can best be appreciated watching from the observation hides or following the boardwalks laid over the water are situated between a dense pinewood and a wide beach, in an area of dunes and tombolos. Roe deer, squirrels, and pine martens, ducks and wood pigeon all find refuge in this untouched corner of old Maremma. The vegetation, thick with juniper, pines, ash and bulrushes, is reflected in the sparkling waters of the marsh. The park was established on a 120 hectare plot in 1973 and is one of the most enchanting places along the coast. Sea lilies flower on the sands between San Vincenzo and Baratti, while the dunes are covered with juniper.

Medieval villages

Situated on hills overlooking the sea or in the heart of the countryside, the medieval villages and towns of Costa degli Etruschi have centuries-old historical and cultural traditions. Historical reminders of their civilisation are preserved intact in Castagneto Carducci, Bolgheri, Suvereto, Campiglia Marittimo, Bibbona, Sassetta, Rosignano Marittimo, Populonia and Piombino. Narrow flagstone streets lead the visitor to splendid buildings, ancient churches, parish churches, little theatres and fascinating museums. Etruscan settlements by the sea, like the Baratti-Populonia Archaeological Park, museums full of Etruscan, Roman and Villanovan artefacts, such as those at Rosignano Marittimo, Cecina and Piombino, exhibitions and shows of international significance on the history of these places all bear witness to the historical importance of the Costa degli Etruschi.
