Location: Sete in France
Surrounded by water, Sete, nicknamed Venise locally, has the charm of a fishing village. Here Paul Valery the poet and Georges Brassens the singer are revered, both born in Sete. It is a pretty town with well-patronized quays. You can visit the Paul-Valery museum and George-Brassens square, the multimedia library and the Moliere theatre. Sete also has an 'international museum of modest art' and a casino. The pleasure harbour adjoins the auction room or the numerous restaurants where you can discover the local cuisine (tielles, stuffed squid, macaronade, grilled cuttlefish...). The seaside theatre, formerly a stronghold which dominated the Mediterranean, welcomes music festivals all summer. The Saint Louis fête at the end of August is an opportunity to join in the final of the famous water jousting with music and wine cellers with a royal theme. Lido has 12km of beach along which you can enjoy the pleasures of being idle.
