Il Gobbo was originally a mansion - now it is converted into a beautiful holiday home. The fenced and very private property (28'000 sq m) has its own swimming pool (14 x 6.30 m) Il Gobbo is a splendid large country house; beautifully renovate maintaining the original structure. It is set on two floors and can accommodate 12 people. On the ground floor there is an equipped kitchen with oven, microwave, washing machine a four-ring hob and a large fridge. There is also an old wood stove, where you can make pizza. There is a large dining room and a living room whit sofas and satellite TV. There are two double bedrooms, bathroom with shower and a small laundry room. The wooden stairs lead you to the first floor. Here there is a double bedroom with private bathroom, twin bedroom and another double bedroom. The last to share a bathroom. The open air hydro massage hot tub is available and the guests can relax enjoy the views.

Il Gobbo lies in the vicinity of the characteristic village of Segromigno in Monte, whose church is a Romanesque parish from the twelfth century. The panoramic road that runs through Borghi and Fattorie eventually reaches Le Pizzorne (900 m above sea level). This offers a great ride for mountain bike lovers and is the Colline Lucchesi wine route. In this area you may discover many wonderful villas which belong to the old aristocracy of Lucca, one of those villas is Villa Mansi, which lies in a beautiful spot. It is also perfect to visit the art town of Tuscany.

Lucca/ Piana di Lucca: Lucca, only 8 km far from Il Gobbo, is one of the most beautiful towns in Tuscany and it is very famous for its perfectly preserved town walls, for its churches and important monuments, such as San Martino Cathedral, San Michele and San Frediano Churches, the Amphitheatre Square, Guinigi Tower and Torre delle Ore (where you can enjoy a wonderful view of the Lucca plain). The most important street of Lucca is called Via Fillungo, and it is well known for its elegant shops. In Porta Giannotti, just inside the city centre it is possible to rent bicycles to ride around the walls (a track about 4 km long), among trees, green and ancient ruins. In September, Lucca hosts a village fair, and just outside the city centre you can find an amusement park. Lucca has very interesting surroundings: the Versilia beach, the Garfagnana valley, the Spa of Montecatini Terme. From Lucca you can travel by train to 'Le Cinque Terre' (Liguria) and Elba Island.

The Tuscan Region: The most important city of art in Tuscany is Florence. It is only a 40 minute drive far from Il Gobbo. Places of interest are: The Cathedral, the Baptistery, the Churches, Piazzale Michelangelo and Viale dei Colli, which dominate the whole city of Florence. Other attractions of Florence are Uffizi Museum, Ponte Vecchio and 'Lungarno', the way beside Arno River, where you can find lots of stalls and buy souvenirs. Pisa is about a 30 minute drive far, and a one-day stay in Pisa could include a visit to the world-famous Piazza dei Miracoli with its extraordinary monuments: the Cathedral, the Baptistery, the Churchyard and the Leaning Tower. Siena is about a one hour drive away. It is very famous for its 'Palio' (horses ride) and Chianti wine. Its streets are narrow and medieval and there is a single church each 'Contrada '. Places of interest are: Piazza del Campo, the Cathedral, Fortezza Medicea.

Il Gobbo - Fantastico!

The web site description of Il Gobbo is good, but the property is better! 9 of us stayed at Il Gobbo (3 couples and a family of 3 with a 9 year old boy), there was still room for more people. Everyone felt is was the best property we had stayed at in all of our vacations in Tuscany. The home is absloutley magnificent, everything works perfectly, even the espresso machine! It was immaculately clean and well maintained. The spa is at least as good as the view from it! The serenity of the property is probably its biggest asset, although inside the home is superb as well. Loretta and Guiseppi are magnificent hosts who live close by if you need any assistance, such as where can you get the best local wine and seafood, etc! We have never had such good customer service. We will definitely stay there again and have already begun recommending it to our friends.

Paradise Found

Paradise! That is the only word I can use. We shared the house with 2 other families. There were 14 people in total (6 adults, 2 teenagers, 2 tweenagers and 4 kids). The house provided plenty of space and privacy. There was something for everyone. There were many outside activities including the pool, hot tub, deck chairs, swings, a playhouse, pingpong, horses to pet, and trees to climb. There was never a moment when anyone said, "I'm bored." We loved the dining areas - 2 outside and 1 inside that fit everyone. Loretta was kind enough to arrange a cook to come in and make fabulous dinners for us. The price was quite reasonable considering the amount of people and quality of food.
The owners came every morning to be sure we were comfortable.
The house has so much character. It felt warm and homey. The kitchen was very well equipted and had lots of the basics for us to use. My only issue was the lighting was dim for reading at night. If you like to read, bring a book light.
We were able to do several daytrips -Pisa, Florence, Lucca. They were convenient. I recommend that you take the train into Florence. The car was a pain. The towns were lovely, but the Il Gobbo was the best part of the whole trip. I can't wait to return!

Best Vacation We've Ever Had!!!

Our week in Tuscany began with a warm welcome from Guiseppe and just got better! Il Gobbo is a beautifully maintained villa with a stunning view over Lucca and the surrounding hills. We enjoyed sipping wine (thoughtfully provided for us from a nearby vineyard) and watching the gorgeous sunsets from the state-of-the-art hot tub! The kids had a fabulous time feeding the horse, swinging, swimming and playing ping pong (sadly, the grass was still growing on the soccer field)! The property is very large and was perfect for our dog since it is fenced.
The villa exuded warmth and authenticity with its beamed ceilings and antique furnishings. We were thrilled to have a dining table that would seat all of us (14). Antonia came twice to make us delicious Italian meals, and she made so much food that we had left overs!
We went into Lucca several times and delighted in bicycling around the ramparts. Both Florence and Pisa were a short drive, but we abandoned our plans for any other sightseeing to remain at Il Gobbo and soak in the Tuscan sun and serenity!
We felt as if we'd experienced Tuscany like a native--so much better than staying at a hotel or resort!! We've already inquired about coming back in the summer...

Die Villa bietet alle Möglichkeiten für einen entspannten und vielseitigen Familienurlaub oder eine größere Gruppe von unternehmungslustigen und sport- und kulturbegeisterten Freunden. Besonders die Lage der Villa mit dem Blick von der Terrasse ist wunderschön. Die Einrichtung und Ausstattung der Villa ist gut und entspricht den Angaben im Internet. Wir haben uns in dem Feriendominziel sehr wohl gefühlt und können il Gobbo sehr weiter empfehlen.
