Châtel is at the heart of the Franco-Swiss ski resort "les Portes du Soleil". This ski resort is one of the largest in Europe and is actually made up of 12 resorts linked together : 8 French resorts, among which Avoriaz, Morzine, Montriond, les Gets, St Jean d'Aulps, Abondance, la Chapelle and Châtel, and 4 Swiss resorts: Champéry, Torgon, Morgins and les Crosets- Val d'Illiez-Champoussin. It offers 650 Km of slopes and a total of 194 ski lifts that you can access thanks to a single ski pass. From Châtel, you can directly access Avoriaz, Morgins and Torgon. Châtel ski resort has a large range of possibilities and thus can propose a customized stay for each and every one, thrill seekers as well as meditative skiers. A free ski shuttle service serves all the ski areas (Barbossine Super-Châtel and Linga Pré-la-Joux) from the centre of the village. These buses follow a system of constant rotation from 8.30am until the closing of the ski area.
