This farmhouse, recently renovated, is the oldest part of the estate. Some hunting frescos in the dining/living room prove its origin as an hunting hut although it has been a farmer house and a stable too. The date 1850 is probably when the house was converted from hunting lodge to farmhouse. There are also 2 apartments, one for the caretaker and one, seldom used, for the owners. Very old farm "Podere Valle di Sotto", renovated in 2004 2 km from the centre of Volterra, 30 km from the centre of San Gimignano, 40 km from the centre of Pisa, in a quiet position on top of a hill, in the countryside. Private: garden, swimming pool with built-in steps (6 x 12 m, depth 120 - 200 cm, 15.05.-15.10.), pergola, garden furniture, barbecue. In the house: with TV. Central heating, washing machine. For arrivals by plane: airport Pisa (PSA), Firenze Pereto (FLR). Situated in an elevated panoramic position over the hilly Valle di Cecina countryside, Volterra has a marvellous Old Town with evidence from several bygone eras. It was one of the Etruscan capitals, even retaining part of the old wall. The Guarnacci museum has one of the best collections of Etruscan artwork.
