The farm of Palazzuolo Vecchio was originally a castle, destroyed by the Sienese around 1100. During renovation, signs of this historical event were discovered, with walls showing clear evidence of a fire. Already by the year 1000 the area was known as Palazzuolo Vecchio, indicating that its origins are undoubtedly much older and in fact ancient worked stones can be identified within the walls. The property, which is made up of three independent buildings, lies about 3 km from the main farm buildings of Fattoria Marengo. The 7x14 m swimming-pool and the tennis-court (for free) located about 150 metres from the little hamlet, look out over Monte Amiata on one side, while the towers of Siena are visible on the other. Around the swimming-pool an extensive natural green area is available for general recreation. The properties have been renovated preserving their original features, ceilings with chestnut beams and terracotta floors, while they have been furnished in traditional rustic style.
