A restored winery in the unspoiled village of St Michel de Riviere, overlooking the 11th century church and open countryside. A peaceful haven in which to unwind, yet within easy reach of many beautiful parts of France, such as Aubeterre, St Emilion, Cognac and Bordeaux. The French speaking English owners live next door and are happy to help you make the most of your holiday. The accommodation is all on the ground floor and could be suitable for elderly or disabled people, but not for wheel chair users.The cottage is a strictly NO SMOKING area, but smoking is permitted in the garden and pool area. NEW FOR 2009 - WI FI BROADBAND CONNECTION TO THE INTERNET.

The rooms are on the ground floor and suitable for elderly or disabled people,but it is not suitable for wheel chair users.The cottage is a NO SMOKING area.Wi-Fi broadband is available in the cottage and access to the Internet is available in the local library.

The Local Area: The local area is quiet and unspoilt with sleepy towns and villages forming a rural, working community which is largely unaffected by tourism. Yet some of the most beautiful parts of France are within easy reach, such as Aubeterre, St Emilion, Bergerac and Cognac. The local forest, rivers and lakes offer fishing, canoeing, golf, walking, cycling (on the flat!) and horse riding. There are several good restaurants in the area and there is an enormous range of wines to be sampled from Bordeaux, Bergerac and the Charente. We are surrounded by vineyards which you can visit to taste and buy wine, pineau (a local aperitif) and cognac. The local towns offer everything you will need in the way of shopping, but much more fun are the markets: there is one nearby every day of the week. Your stay at Zelah can be whatever you choose – a well-earned rest, a gastronomic adventure, an activity holiday or an exploration of the local history. Or any combination you wish!

A bargain in France

We spent nearly three weeks here in March. The cottage is delightful. Well equipped, comfortable and warm (for a winter let). The owners, who live next door were charming and very helpful. The area is very beautiful with the river Dronne only 1 km from the door. There is a tennis court nearby (free use of) There are lots of restaurants in the vicinity serving 4 and 5 course meals with wine for 12€.
Highly recommended.
