La Treille Gites is owned and run by Jeff and Julie Plowman who live on site and available 24/7 should you need us. There are 3 gites/ holiday cottages available, each one spacious, light and airy and fully equipped with all mod cons. Panoramic views from all 3 gite terraces. Ideal for couples, families or larger groups of upto 14 people. Larger than average pool (13 x 6 metres) with shaded bar area, pool table, ping pong, traditional boules court and more. The 2 larger gites (sleeping 2-5 and 2-6 people) are situated within the old traditional tobacco barn and have both been recently renovated and decorated. Much of the original stonework and wooden oak beams have been retained and 'worked around' to keep the ambience of the barn whilst incorporating modern fixtures and fittings and all mod cons for today's family. The 3rd gite is a self contained ground floor apartment annexed to the owners property. Ideal for couples as it is sited a little away from the 2 main gites.

Details for Gite 1 - Blé in Perigord Vert, Dordogne, France

The ground floor of the main gite, is an open-plan design, comprising kitchen, lounge and dining areas. The galley style kitchen is fully equipped with gas cooker, dishwasher, fridge, microwave, toaster, coffee machine, kettle and all utensils. The dining area has a table and 6 chairs, and looks out through large French doors, onto your own private patio and lawn. As garden furniture is provided for the patio, this is a wonderful place to take in the views across the valley. In the lounge area, there is a modern suite, TV, video, DVD player, coffee table and a wood burning fireplace. Upstairs, are the 3 bedrooms (1 double and 2 twin - one has bunk beds), sleeping up to 6 guests. There is a large tiled shower room with wash basin and toilet (an additional toilet is located on the ground floor). All linen and towels are provided (except for beach towels). There is ample secure parking space within the grounds.

The hamlet of La Treille (2 properties - us and a neighbouring farm) is approx 2 km outside the village of Montagrier. Montagrier is situated between Riberac (14km) and Perigueux (24km) within the Dordogne Department of SW France with a population of about 447. The village is an old Gallo-Roman fortified town although only the Wiridel door (town gate) and some fortifications remain. Montagrier is perched overlooking the Dronne Valley with narrow lanes and the Church of Saint Madeleine. Montagrier is also known for its Mountain Bike Centre (VTT) which offers excursions throughout the year with 24 marked out circuits in the local countryside and forests, there's even a school VTT for the 7-14 years. Riberac is best on a Friday when the Market is held, reputed to be the largest in the Dordogne. Perigueux is the Capital of the Dordogne. A large city offering both a modern shopping experience as well as the older mediaeval town for browsing for that special gift etc.
