Lovely 2 bedroom apartment within the upmarket area of Mato Santo Espirito on the north side of Tavira. The ground floor apartment overlooks the pool which is exclusive for the 16 apartments in the Las Oliveiras building . Accommodation is 5 star with en-suite bathroom with bath and a fully functional kitchen - cooker/washing machine/dishwasher/microwave. Separate family bathroom with massage Shower. Main bedroom with Double bed and wardrobes. Bedroom 2 - twin beds with wardrobe. Pull out double bed in lounge. Lounge has TV and DVD player- selection of DVDs available. Two private terraces front and back. BBQ areas by the pool and on the roof, with views out to sea. Pool with Jacuzzi. Gardens with umbrella facilities. The location is extremely convenient: 30 minutes from Faro airport, 5 minutes from Tavira centre and Cabanas, 10minutes from Quinta da Ria/Quinta da Cima golf. Spend time at the beautiful beaches, take a boat up the Guadiana River or around the Ria Formosa.

Tavira is in the centre of the unspoiled eastern Algarve. Situated on the Gilão River, the town is famous for its Roman bridge, many churches, and lovely old buildings with pyramidal tiled roofs. There is easy ferry access to the Blue Flag beaches on the Ilha da Tavira in the Ria Formosa Nature Reserve. Beaches on the mainland are just 10 minutes away at Manta Rota and Monte Gordo, where there is also a casino. Tour the castles at Castro Marim and Alcoutim; visit Spain (35 minutes away) for lunch; explore the fishing villages of Sta. Luzia and Fuseta. Play golf or go horse riding. Go birdwatching on the Ria Formosa. See the salt harvesting operations, and buy locally caught fish and produce in the markets. Try the wonderful restaurants for cataplanas (shellfish stew), grilled fish or meat, and the typical Tavira tuna cebolada (tuna with an onion sauce). One good restaurant at the end of the street - a 1 minute walk away. Attend one of the many concerts, fairs or festivals in the area.

Additional information about rental rates

  • Rates are for 1 to 4 persons per week - please enquire for extra persons. Shorter breaks are available, but the minimum rental will not be less than 210 pounds. A child's cot is available at 15 pounds per week for the first week, and 10 pounds per week for subsequent weeks. A breakage deposit of 150 pounds to be paid prior to arrival. The deposit will be refunded on departure assuming no damages beyond normal wear and tear. A 50% deposit must be paid when making a reservation; the balance is due no later than 8 weeks prior to arrival. Payment in pounds is preferred. If you pay in another currency, you will be charged the bank fees incurred and any differences in the amount you send and the amount received from the bank due to exchange rate differentials. If you cancel more than 8 weeks prior to arrival, the deposit will be refundable only if the apartment can be rented again for the same period.
  • If you cancel less than 8 weeks prior to arrival, no refund will be made, unless the apartment can be rented at the same or a higher rate for the full period. All rates include cleaning before arrival and change of linen and towels on stays of longer than one week and cleaning after departure. Also included are air conditioning and heating,(excessive use and leaving of units on during the day will be charged on consumption) use of the pool, jacuzzi, outdoor shower, garden, and communal barbeque and eating area in the pool complex as well as the roof terrace and its barbeque area. There is ample parking in front of building, All linens and towels are provided, including wash cloths. Long term rentals can be arranged. Please contact for special rates available for such rentals.
  • Larger groups can be catered for within the apartment block - as we are personal friends with the other owners. Please enquire.

  • Both bathrooms have sleek modern fittings and tiles. The spacious ensuite bathroom includes a tub with shower, and a bidet as well as a sink and a toilet. The second bathroom is also a good size and has a fantastic multiple-headed, massage jet shower. Wash cloths and beach towels are included in the linens supplied for guest use.

Notes: This urbanization is not a purpose built holiday complex, so you will see modern Algarvean life. The community includes Portuguese and foreign residents, most living here full time. The air con units provide both heating and cooling. The apartment is on the ground floor, which has 3 steps up from the building entrance. There is only 1 other apartment on this level. The garage is accessible by elevator, and the elevator goes to the third floor to access the roof terrace by stair. There are 3 steps up from the patio to the pool area. The kitchen and bedrooms have large doors onto the patio, which has a table. The kitchen seats 6 and the pool BBQ area has large picnic tables. There are also sun beds on the patio. The sitting room has a small balcony overlooking the street. The patio is partially covered with shade netting and the pool area has an outside shower. The satellite TV has BBC 1,2,3,4; ITV 1,2,3; Sky News, CNN; and many radio stations.

Family fun in the sun!!!

The perfect place for a relaxing holiday in the sun, we felt at home instantly. The apartment is fitted to a high standard and has a well equipped kitchen with all the mod-cons, ideal for cooking & dining.... or if your prefer to eat out at one of the handful of restaurants within a few minutes walk.

When we arrived - my friend and our daughters aged 3 and 8 we settled in to our rooms and found the 2 bathrooms very useful. And the DVD player in the lounge was very useful to encourage the children out of the pool
to take time out from the midday sun.

Opening our kichen doors onto to gated patio area (ideal to keep the children contained!!!) Open the gate straight onto the poolside. The main pool is ideal for playing and swimming with the whilpool doubling up as perfect childrens pool... All the communal areas are very well maintained and spotlessly clean. For the more active holidaymaker there is a gym in the basement for all residents to use - I can't really comment on this as I was too busy relaxing on the sun lounger!!

Tavira itself is a beautiful and interesting fishing town
with many markets, bars and restaurants. I found Tavira a lot less commercial than other areas of Portugal I've visited which was very refreshing. It seems to be used by Portuguese people for their holidays - which says something in itself about its appeal.

There are many long sandy beaches just a short drive away. Many are in conservation areas so they really are worth seeing - there is a guide in the apartment which directs you to the best ones - A really useful guide as we may have missed some great beaches.

The beach on Tavira island is a must see, we spent an afternoon there leaving the beach after 7pm we ate at one of the many restaurants on the island followed by a speed boat taxi back to the mainland in the dark (hold tight to small children as there are no seatbelts!!!)

We all had a fantastic holiday for a week in August 2008 - needless to say we have booked to come back to the same apartment for 2 weeks in August 2009 so we can do it all again.....

We have used this apartment now on three occasions and its fab - the kids love it.
Its furnished like a home and so relaxing if that is the type of holiday you are after. Tavira is a lovely place and lots of good restaurants to chose from.
The beaches - wow yuo have to see them to believe it.

Enjoy we are already booked for 2009
