'La Paz' offers comfortable, rustic studio accommodation at a traditional Andalucian hillside farmhouse set in 5 acres of private land amidst almond and olive trees. This tranquil retreat enjoys far reaching mountain views from a South facing location; perfect for relaxing by the pool in one of the sunniest parts of Europe. The farmhouse or 'finca' has been beautifully restored while retaining original rustic features including heavily beamed ceilings,tiled floors and wooden shuttered windows. These combine with modern comforts to provide a private setting in the countryside yet within a short 15 minute drive of the nearest village, Comares, and 45 mins to the coast. Around the pool are several terraces, sunny and shaded, where there is ample space for alfresco dining and unwinding on the loungers.

'La Paz' is situated in the South of Andalucia (35 km NE of Malaga) which itself is the Southern most region of Spain. Malaga International airport is approx. a 1 hour drive and the nearest coastal resort is Torre Del Mar, some 40 mins drive. 'La Paz' is found in a quiet, hilly & rural area well away from the crowds and a 10 minute drive, along a winding lane & track, from the village of 'Los Ventorros' with an excellent local bar/restaurant serving tasty tapas and meals. Nextdoor is the village shop selling fresh bread and local produce. Nearby ( 5 mins drive) is the hilltop white village of Comares, the highest village in the Axarquia Region of Andalucia, with 6 local bar/restaurants, small shops, a pharmacy, doctors surgery, tobacconist & bank with cash machine.

Notes: La Paz farmhouse studio provides comfortable accomodation for 2 in a private, rural setting. It is ideal for a couple wanting a quiet, get away from it all holiday. The studio occupies the Eastern end of the property and overlooks the pool. The entrance is directly onto the South facing terrace and parking is separate. The studio comprises a double bed, wardrobe and wall safe, breakfast table overlooking the pool and on suite bathroom attractively tiled throughout. There is a small kitchen area, fully equipped for 2, with storage space and a handmade sink. We live in the main part of the farmhouse with our 2 dogs and a cat ( no children!). We would be pleased to offer travel advice etc as required.

Local lifestyle: 'La Paz' is located in a very rural and much unchanged part of Southern Andalusia. Local life here is unhurried and relaxed. You can still find mules used for carrying sacks of olives or almonds through the hill farms to the villages.And when driving from 'La Paz' towards the coast the country road passes through acres of citrus fruit trees and avocados. 'La Paz' is a beautiful location for country walks. From the door of the Farmhouse Studio there are miles of tracks to walk - well away from cars and the bustle of everyday life. Spring and Autumn are perfect walking times. In summertime you may want only to relax by the pool with a cooling swim before lunch on the terrace.

Local facilities: Don´t be surprised to pass a herd of goats on your way up the hill to 'Comares' located at around 800 metres above sea level. This charming 'pueblo blanco', with it´s narrow winding streets, is the highest hilltop village in the Axarquia region with fantastic views all the way to the coast. Comares and the hamlet of 'Los Ventorros' ( 10 mins from La Paz) will provide you with a number of small village shops, bars, simple restaurants and banks ( one with cash despenser ) to make your stay comfortable. Town facilities including a modern shopping centre, cinemas, market and waterpark are located in Velez Malaga - some 40 mins drive. Torre del Mar beach resort is 5 minutes further with many beach cafes, seafood restaurants and a wide selection of entertainmant. Golf, Go karting and watersports are nearby.

Exploring Andalucia: 'La Paz' is the perfect rural base to explore the most popular sights of Andalucia: Granada and the Alhambra Palace are just 90 minutes drive - with the Sierra Nevada ski resort a short drive from Granada city centre. Seville can be reached in 2 hours by car - well worth the effort! Cordoba and Ronda are beautiful and a similar distance. Nerja and the world famous caves is a one hour drive............ And Malaga, with it´s culture, including the Picasso museum, beaches and great shopping facilities is a one hour drive through the 'Montes de Malaga' national park.

We had the most amazing stay here, even in october the weather was touching 28 degrees everyday. It is no doubt the perfect holiday stay.. imagine going somewhere to relax, you can truly unwind in this beautiful place with nothing around but the amazing views, this really is the ideal get away holiday! If i was your friend, i would tell you this is a must holiday! The accommodation is stunning, so clean and cosy with all equipment that you would ever think of needing, Carl and Maria really are the best hosts and you always know you have them there to help you should you get lost on this wonderful adventure.

We will surely be returning in the future and meanwhile shall be recommending this to all we know.

Peace and quiet and crickets!

My partner and I had a lovely relaxing time at La Paz in August this year. Carl's detailed directions ensured that we found our way to the farmhouse which is definitely off the beaten track. The accommodation was small, but equipped with everything we needed, and Maria kindly provided us with some food, just in case we hadn't had time to go to the supermarket. Our hosts were friendly and helpful, but did not intrude and allowed us plenty of privacy.
The room was clean and comfortable and the ensuite shower room was really special, decorated in a moorish style. Although La Paz is remote, we were able to visit many of the local attractions including the Alhambra in Granada, and we enjoyed the bars and resturants in the local villages of Los Ventorras and Comares. The pool was very good quality, and a welcome relief from the heat in the day. At night we were able to watch the full moon rising above the dark backdrop of the hills. Magical.

Wonderful romantic and peaceful stay

We have had a wonderful stay here! Carl and Maria are superb hosts.We felt very welcome and there was plenty of privacy. The studio was all we needed: it is cosy, nicely decorated and fully equiped! The pool was great, the views spectacular and there is always a nice place in the shade or sun to enjoy it all! We will certainly return come back one day!

This was our first holiday in rural Spain, it definitely won't be our last. 'La Paz' is exactly as described and the pictures spot on. A gem of a place set in beautiful surroundings. The studio is basic but had all that we needed and a great shower room, plenty of space. Owner Carl and Maria are friendly and helpful and gave us great directions when we decided to tear ourselves away from the pool and go sightseeing. We certainly had a relaxing, chilled out time and hope to return next year.
