Photos and Description of this Agde holiday house 'La Lune' Town house with 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, sleeps 8

Ideal for summer holidays, close to several sandy beaches. The house is through a shared courtyard, then external flight of stone steps to the front door and the first floor kitchen & living area. The kitchen has full cooker, fridge freezer & dishwasher. A farmhouse style dinner table seats eight comfortably. An internal staircase leads down to the ground floor bedroom, with one double and one single bed and large en-suite shower room with toilet and basin. Then via the original staircase to the second floor bedroom, with a double and a single bed and its own en-suite bathroom: tub, toilet, basin and walk-in shower. The top (third floor) is gloriously sunny with two single beds, en-suite shower room, toilet & basin. There is a corner kitchenette with fridge for cold drinks. This room leads onto a roof terrace with table, chairs and barbecue. A seperate utility room on the ground floor, accessed through the courtyard has a washer dryer and space to store hired bicycles & pushchairs.

Agde is situated at the estuary of the River Herault and at the Mediterranean end of the Canal du Midi. The nearby town of Sete boasts the largest fishing port in the Mediterranean, whilst between Agde and Sete are inland lakes where you will find miles upon miles of mussell and oyster beds. There are several large sandy beaches within a few kilometres of the town. La Tamarriserie is recommended for families, and Cap d'Agde has a large marina and the largest naturist beach in Europe. From Spring 2008, Ryanair will be flying from Bristol to Beziers-Cap d'Agde Airport which is a short drive from town on the road between Agde and Bezier. Other airports within easy reach via the excellent A9 Autoroute are Montperlier, Nimes, Perpignan and Carcassone. Trains run directly to Agde, including the fast speed TGV train. It is possible to take a train in the morning from London, change at Paris or Lillle, arriving Agde late afternoon. In time for a shower & change before going out to dinner

Days out to the beaches: 'La Lune' has a Sea Chest, full of buckets, spades and beach balls available for all to use. There is also a Picnic Rug and a small parasol. There are two local bus routes, with stops very close to 'La Lune', these buses take circular routes throughout the day in high season and will drop you off and collect you from many local beaches.

Further facilities at 'La Lune': Visitors will find bottles of red and white local wines to welcome them, along with mineral water and milk in the fridge. The kitchen has tea bags, coffee and sugar. There are plug in night lights, and English/French plug adapters, and smoke detectors fitted to each floor. The showers all have thermostatic controls.

Relax in, and enjoy, another world!

Set in the old, historic and captivating town of Agde, this lovely old house is accurately described, well furnished, maintained, clean and a joy.
If too warm outside then the house offers a cool and welcome reception; if you wish to sunbathe then there is a secluded rooftop. Although lying in the old town, it is but a minutes walk from the many shops and little supermarkets, the restaurants and bars, the bustling twice/thrice weekly markets, or the many restaurants along the river Herault. The miles and miles of beaches are but a 15/20 minute regular bus ride away. A pure joy to be located so centrally without having to worry about a car!
The owner and/or manager are always available, very approachable and help to make it a memorable stay. Highly recommended.

September stay in La Lune

La Lune is an apartment with a lot of caracter and the surroundings (narrow cobbled street with an old town feel) makes you feel like you have travelled back in time and you feel like you are living amongst the locals (and not in a commercial tourist location) The apartment is central to the town centre and surrounding infrastructure. We enjoyed the local restaurants (in particular Larcen). We came in Sepember when the season was coming to an end and the town was quiet and the weather was not so hot(which might suit some). Overall it is a place worth a visit, apartment was very charming and the owners were very nice to deal with.

My wife and I have rented many vacation properties over the years. This one was the best. Rustic charm plus modern conveniences in the heart of historic Agde. Roomy, clean and comfortable...will sleep up to 8 comfortably, so an excellent choice for families. Not recommended for the physically challenged, though, as there are a lot of narrow stairs. A few minutes walk to the promenade and city bus stops, and only a 15 minute walk to the train station. We fell in love with Agde, and could not have found better acommodation. Thank you, Lynn!
