The hamlet of Crec’h Mordo is set in the tranquil countryside 1.5km from the Medieval town of Pontrieux, which straddles the river Trieux at its highest navigable point. The town and its port offer a wide selection of restaurants, shopping facilities and a weekly market. We are perfectly situated for a relaxing holiday in the Cotes d’Armor region of Brittany. The two cottages have been renovated to a very high standard and have wood burning stoves and electric heating accommodation, offering comfortable all year round accommodation. Both properties are fully equipped with a downstairs kitchen/ dining and lounge area, (with sofa beds), and upstairs bathrooms. The Cottage has a large double bedroom, the Longere 1 double and 1 twin bedroom. There are private south facing sun terraces with garden furniture and barbecues. Children's games and toys are available along with 2 adult bikes and badminton equipment and net. There is English and French TV in both properties.

Our first property, the cottage, is situated in a large courtyard with ample parking and has been renovated to retain many of it's original features. It is a large, 1 bedroom property, with 1 double bed and a sofa bed on the ground floor. Both cottages have private south facing patios with extensive gardens and a woodland area. The property is double glazed and has electric heating and fireplace. A child's bed and cot are available. Two adult bicycles and a bike rack are also available on request. Ground Floor: Spacious kitchen/dinning area with dual aspect triple patio doors opening on to private sun terrace. The kitchen is fully equipped with a gas cooker, fridge/freezer, micro- wave and washing machine. The lounge has an original granite fireplace, wood burner and beamed ceilings. There is a sofa bed, English and French TV and a CD/radio/cassette player. First Floor: Large dual aspect double bedroom with bathroom. The Cottage has broadband internet connection.

We are situated 20 minutes drive from two beautiful coastlines, the Pink Granite Coast with its fascinating rock formations and islands and the Goelo coast with its many resorts, both of which offer miles of coastline walks and beautiful beaches. The area is renowned for its delicious shellfish, crepes and Breton cider. With its nearby estuaries, picturesque fishing ports and islands, you can find excellent walking, fishing, golf, water activities and cycling. From Paimpol you are able to visit the Isle de Brehat, famous for it's beautiful fauna and car free roads. Nearby is the beautiful Chateau de la Roche Jagu, with its 30 hectares of extensive gardens overlooking the Trieux estuary, and the Abbaye de Beauport at Paimpol. The historic cathedral towns of Treguier and Guingamp with their popular Weekly markets are 15 minutes drive. Alternatively, relax with a meal or drink at a cafe on the port in Pontrieux, overlooking the marina.

    Written confirmation will be sent on receipt of a deposit of 20% of rental price
    All bed-linen, towels and tea towels will be supplied and are included in the rental price.
    Gas for the cooker is provided free throughout the year.
    Between 22 May - 25 September electricity is included in rental price, during all other periods the Initial 50 kilowatts of electricity is included in the rental price price, after which electricity is charged at 10 centimes per kilowatt.
    Throughout the year the initial supply of wood for the wood burning stoves is provided in the property, Further wood is available at 8 Euro per barrow load.

Spent a week at Crec'h Mordo in a beautifully restored and well equiped gite. A wonderful, peaceful holiday location in beautiful countryside only 5 minutes from Pontrieux. We will be returning as soon as possible.

We stayed 1 week in autumn 2008 at "the cottage" and found a tastefully and functionally equipped, tidy and comfortable place, which simply can be described as the best holiday home we had rented in Brittany so far.
The place is ideal for a couple (maybe with a young kid). If you plan to stay with more than two persons, you might want to know, that there is no door between sleeping room (upstairs) and living room (downstairs with the couche).
The host lives on the same ground and helpfully supplied us with fire-wood, which was very welcome during a rather cold week. Wireless internet was a nice addition.
A really nice place to stay - if you bring your car or a lot of good books!

Our first trip to France.

A beautiful cottage set amidst rural surroundings - exactly as described in the details. Adequately equipped and very clean despite us arriving early (as agreed) and the cottage being occupied the week before. The owners, who lived next door, were available if required but otherwise were completely unobtrusive and didn't encroach upon or holiday at all. This is the perfect place to unwind and relax - it was a pity the weather was not better. We could really have done with 2 weeks because there is so much to see and do in the surrounding areas which we crammed into 6 days! Despite this though the harbours were fantastic to wander around, the bars and restaurants were very accomodating, the beaches fantastic and very clean and the people that we met were very understanding when we used our pidgen French to ask for anything. A car is a must, but for example when we went to St. Malo we found a courtesy bus giving free travel into the old city which was very helpful. All in all it was a great week and thanks go to Janet and Michael for allowing us to share their super property. Hope to visit again. From Sue and Dave.

Our French Adventure

For our first visit to rural France, Crech Mordo was a perfect choice. Not too touristy, quiet roads, wonderful food markets, quaint villages, beaches, islands and of course our wonderful hosts, Janet and Mick.

Mick collected us from Guingamp TGV station and even let us stop at the Intermarche at Pontrieux for our supplies of food and wine.

The cottage was spacious, clean, comfortable and well-equipped. Anything extra that we needed was quickly supplied. The front balcony just perfect for our evening meal in the long summer evenings.

The area is quiet which was just what we wanted for our stay.

If only we did not live so far away, we would be visiting again.

A Perfect Holiday

Crech Mordo was a perfect base for a prefect holiday. It gave us everything we wanted from our holiday. The gite was excellent, both spacious and comfortable, well positioned for sitting in the sun both relaxing over a leisurely breakfast or enjoying an evening drink. Peace and quiet in beautiful surroundings within walking distance of a pretty town offering bars and restaurents. The coast wasn't far away with beautiful beaches and wonderful scenery.
What more can we say, other than many thanks to Janet and Michael for making us so welcome. Our only criticism - we had to come home!!
