The hamlet of Crec’h Mordo is set in the tranquil countryside 1.5km from the Medieval town of Pontrieux, which straddles the river Trieux at its highest navigable point. The town and its port offer a wide selection of restaurants, shopping facilities and a weekly market. We are perfectly situated for a relaxing holiday in the Cotes d’Armor region of Brittany. The two cottages have been renovated to a very high standard and have wood burning stoves and electric heating accommodation, offering comfortable all year round accommodation. Both properties are fully equipped with a downstairs kitchen/ dining and lounge area, (with sofa beds), and upstairs bathrooms. The Cottage has a large double bedroom, the Longere 1 double and 1 twin bedroom. There are private south facing sun terraces with garden furniture and barbecues. Children's games and toys are available along with 2 adult bikes and badminton equipment and net. There is English and French TV in both properties.

Spacious accommodation retaining many original features including beamed ceilings and wood burning stove. Ground Floor: The lounge has open plan accommodation, with dining area with seating for 6 and fully equipped kitchen. There is a gas cooker, washing machine, micro-wave, coffee maker, toaster and electric kettle. The lounge area has seating for 6 people, with French and English television, DVD player and CD/radio/cassette player. There are large double- doors leading to the private south facing terrace and garden. First Floor: Both bedrooms are south facing, one double and one twin room. There is a large bathroom with bath/shower. The hallway has a full-length window and balustrade overlooking the courtyard. A child safety gate has been fitted at the top of the stairs. Outside: Garden furniture and a barbecue are provided. There are extensive garden/lawn areas surrounding the property. All bed linen, towels and tea towels are included in the rental price.

We are situated 20 minutes drive from two beautiful coastlines, the Pink Granite Coast with its fascinating rock formations and islands and the Goelo coast with its many resorts, both of which offer miles of coastline walks and beautiful beaches. The area is renowned for its delicious shellfish, crepes and Breton cider. With its nearby estuaries, picturesque fishing ports and islands, you can find excellent walking, fishing, golf, water activities and cycling. From Paimpol you are able to visit the Isle de Brehat, famous for it's beautiful fauna and car free roads. Nearby is the beautiful Chateau de la Roche Jagu, with its 30 hectares of extensive gardens overlooking the Trieux estuary, and the Abbaye de Beauport at Paimpol. The historic cathedral towns of Treguier and Guingamp with their popular Weekly markets are 15 minutes drive. Alternatively, relax with a meal or drink at a cafe on the port in Pontrieux, overlooking the marina.

You never know when arriving at your destination for the first time what to expect. We need'nt have worried as the welcome was as warm as the night air. Janet and her family were on hand to make sure our first impressions would match our lofty expectations. We would not be dissapointed.

The cottage was well appointed with all the mod cons you would expect and then more some. The availability of interent wireless connection and freeview TV was a bonus we did not expect.

Immaculately laid out and spotlessly clean we were surprised by he space and modern feel.

Outside the back is a small oasis of peace and quite where you can sit and enjoy a good book supported with a glass of french wine. The open fields and landscape gardens add to the feel of quality.

To the front is a tailored drive and playing area which the owners have cleverly made into a family games area wher badminton in particular is the order of the day.

The local area is fantastic for walking along stunning coast or if with a family good beaches. The area also has a selection of attractions the pick of which we found to be the Galic Village. Don't miss local towns such as Pampol which provide a wealth of variety.

Further afield St Marlo is also well worth a trip.

Most of all you should take advantage of the unbeatable hospitality of the hosts who cannot do enough for you from giving advice on where to find little places to vist to barbecuies on the front lawn.

This was our second visit to Crech Mordo and will not be our last. The cottage is fantastic with everything you would possibly need, whether your a couple on your own or a family (as we are). Our children are aged between 2 and 8 and love to be outside playing in the wood, cycling round the lanes or having a game of badminton or cricket on the back lawn. Close to beaches so plenty of sandcastles or body boarding. Pontreuix is a beautifully village with friendly locals and plenty to see and do and is within walking distance of the cottage ( may see otters if your lucky). Pamipol is worth a visit on the local train as it has a nice harbour.
If you visit out of season the cottage is warming and cosy, especially with the log fire. So all that is required is a good book and great bottle of french wine.
Mick, Janet, Jeremy, Lily and Jess are fantastic hosts - so much so that when you go to leave Jess won't let you. Not that we wanted to leave anyway!

A wonderful place to relax

Janet and Mick have created a little piece of heaven. We were looking for a quiet and private setting to get away from it all and simply spend some quality time together as a family. The longeur was ideal for us and with the extensive grounds to run around in, our two young sons could not have been happier.
The location is excellent with that sense that you really are very isolated and yet Pontrieux is only 5 minutes away by car.
We were especially pleased with the little touches of effort which Mick and Janet did to make us (including the children) feel both welcome and relaxed.
Acid test – would we go back – definitely!
WOuld I recommend to friends - yes but only if they promised to keep it a secret.
If we do go back, we will do much more walking locally to really explore the locality.

Great property, great people

We had the most wonderful 2 weeks in August 2008. The directions given made the property easy to find. As we drove up the track we saw the most wonderful property, it was exactly as we had seen on the web site. It was surrounded by corn fields and woods and felt like we had arrived at a very specila place. The owners Janet, Mick and family could not have made us feel more welcome. The house was clean, spacious and ideal for us as a family of four. It has central to many of the wonderful beaches (most within 30-40 min drive max). There was also a range of wet weather activities such as the Gaul village and planeterium (which does a show in English at least x1 a week). The roads were quiet, the people were very welcoming and tolerated our poor French! The local supermarkets/ markets had wonderful fresh produce and the local bakery in Pontrieux had the most tempting cakes, also some wonderful cider (bigger glasses needed at the property!) We felt like we had, had a proper holiday we relaxed the momment we arrived! We did head out most days but were as content to stay at the Longere looking over the corn fileds from the beautiful garden indulging in a good book! We would definately recommend the property.
