PERIGORD NOIR / DORDOGNE.: It's simple to enjoy a fulfilling holiday here. Even the busiest tourist attractions have the same rural charm that has drawn people to them for centuries. The Dordogne river itself provides a rich and undulating playground. Hop into a canoe and you will discover a lost world of caves, echoing inlets and fishing coves. Look up and you will see villages such as La Roque Gageac clinging to limestone cliffs. An attraction of the region is the many discoveries of the presence of prehistoric man. Many of the finds have been in the Vezere valley around nearby Les Eyzies. Visit the superbly located fortified bastide town of Domme with its splendid views of the Dordogne river and valley. The Dordogne chateaux are numerous; you can visit small family held homes to grand fortified castles. But when the caves and chateaux hold no more secrets there are still thousands of other things for you to discover.

GASTRONOME.: This is a region where 'gourmets' can enjoy a rich and varied selection of specialities. This is the land of the truffle, named in the area 'the black diamond', Cepes (mushrooms) which are found in abundance, walnuts, strawberries, geese, ducks and the famous 'Foie Gras'. Free tastings of these delights are available in the shops and at the local food markets. The regional recipes have been passed down from generation to generation and delight the finest palates with their succulent flavours.
