Les Iris Villa, only 150m from the beach and the market street, is our secondary home, not just a place for holiday rentals. This explains why our guests tell us they find it so homely. They love it instantly when they arrive and they still do when they leave it! One of the luxuries of this light and spacious villa is its fully enclosed, totally private back garden where you can enjoy your meals under the parasol on the flagstoned terrace followed by a nap in a long chair on the wooden decking.

Nearest Airport: La Rochelle or Nantes at 20 Minutes
Nearest Ferry: Saint Malo at 200 Minutes
Nearest Restaurant: 1 minute's walk at 1 Minutes
The beach is very safe (gentle slope, no current, registered lifeguards), and there is a children's swimming pool on the beach with qualified swimming instructors. There is also a public swimming-pool with toboggans etc in Chatelaillon. There is a permanent fun fair during the summer months, at a reasonable distance from the house! there is a good horse riding centre 5 km away. The large harbour town of La Rochelle with its famous aquarium is approximately 6.5 miles (10km) away. The beautiful islands of Ré and Oléron, as well as Fort Boyard, are visible from the beach. You may also choose to spend a day in the smaller but lovely, no-car ïle d'Aix, walking or cycling from a beach to another. Rochefort ( 15 km south is well worth visiting with La Corderie Royale ( a spectacular XVIIth century rope factory for the Navy) and the building of l'Hermione, a battleship of the same period in one of the Louis XV's dock.

From the front garden, you can either go up seven steps to the ground floor which offers you the lounge, kitchen/diner, bathroom with wash basin, separate toilet and one double bedroom. Alternativley you can go down three steps to the lower floor with a shower room with toilet and wash basin, two bedrooms, one twin and one with a double sofa bed. From both levels you have access to the lovely private back garden with a lawn, flowers borders full of butterflies and a delightful terrace. As for breakfast, you can buy freshly baked croissants just 100m away and enjoy them on the balcony at first floor level, soaking up the morning sun. There is free on street parking in front of the house and Les Iris has gas central heating, so no problem if you come in winter.

You will be ideally settled in the heart of the bustling seaside town of Châtelaillon-plage, only a minute's walk from the market street with all its conveniences including a baker, charcutier, pâtissier, newsagent, pharmacy, minimarket and also dentist's and doctor's. Then there is the beach! A one-mile long, safe stretch of fabulous fine sand facing the islands of Ré and Oléron, a sight you can also enjoy from some of the restaurants and bars on the seafront.

Golf: Therev are two golf courses within 7 miles.
