Greenrigg Farm rests within the lovely hinterland between the Solway Coast and the Caldbeck Fells, the Lake District National Park is nearby. The stone built cottage adjoins the owners' farmhouse, and has been modernised, whilst retaining plenty original character. There are three bedrooms: 1 x family with double and adult size bunk beds, 1 x double, 1 x twin. Modern three piece bathroom with shower over bath. Additional shower room. Spacious well equipped farmhouse kitchen (with Aga) and dining area. Sitting room with open fire. Utility room with extra WC. Visitors can freely explore the farm, subject to seasonal restrictions. This is a superb base for walking and touring in the Northern Lakes. About the area: Wigton is a traditional Cumbrian market town, with a charter granted in 1262, which holds a market every Tuesday in the covered market hall. It is a popular centre for shopping, restaurants and pubs, there is also a theatre, swimming, tennis, bowls and other sports. Lord Melvyn Bragg was a native of Wigton, and often used the town (called Thurston in some of his writings) and the surrounding area as the setting for his novels including 'A Time to Dance'. Located at just 18 miles from Penrith it is a superb for all of the attractions of the North Lakes, the cathedral city of Carlisle (10 miles), and the beauty of the West Cumbrian Coast. Within 25 miles is Hadrian's Wall, while within easy reach are the Scottish Borders (and Gretna Green).
