A traditional Grade II listed Georgian cottage, opposite the 18th Century parish church and lovely gardens, in the quaint market town of Wigton. The accommodation is arranged over two floors and has retained some original features. Simply and comfortably furnished, the cottage offers cosy, and affordable accommodation in a charming church-side location. There are two bedrooms: 1 x double, 1 x adult bunks. Pleasant cottage garden with furniture and BBQ. With Carlisle and the beautiful coast within easy reach, this is a great base to explore the magnificent Lake District and surrounding area. About the area: Wigton is a traditional Cumbrian market town, with a charter granted in 1262, which holds a market every Tuesday in the covered market hall. It is a popular centre for shopping, restaurants and pubs, there is also a theatre, swimming, tennis, bowls and other sports. Lord Melvyn Bragg was a native of Wigton, and often used the town (called Thurston in some of his writings) and the surrounding area as the setting for his novels including 'A Time to Dance'. Located at just 18 miles from Penrith it is a superb for all of the attractions of the North Lakes, the cathedral city of Carlisle (10 miles), and the beauty of the West Cumbrian Coast. Within 25 miles is Hadrian's Wall, while within easy reach are the Scottish Borders (and Gretna Green).
