Sedbergh (pronounced Sed-Ber), is an ancient market town in northern Dentdale, just inside the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The town has an olde worlde atmosphere with its narrow streets, traditional pubs, little shops, famous school dating back to 1536 and its 12th Century church. The jewel of the Yorkshire Dales - Dentdale, with its rolling hills and dry stone walls, stretches 14 miles from the windswept moors below Whernside to the confluence of the rivers Dee and Rawthey. At the centre of the dale is Dent, with cobbled streets, which has existed since Norman times. Nearby there are three golf courses, as well as tennis, fishing and riding, and the area is a true walker's paradise. This and the tranquillity of the surrounding valleys and the two National Parks, make a fantastic year-round holiday destination.
