A charming cottage set in lovely countryside, on the edge of the market town of Cockermouth. The ground floor is detached, the upstairs is connected only to the owners' roof space, so that guests privacy is not compromised. The cottage offers a high standard of accommodation, and boasts two bedrooms: 1 x ground floor double, 1 x 1st floor twin with en-suite (shower, WC and basin). Just a short walk to the town centre with its beautiful Georgian buildings, old pubs and the traditional market, makes this the perfect retreat! About the area: Bassenthwaite Lake 7 miles; Keswick 13 miles. The small market town of Cockermouth is located on the peaceful north-western part of the Lake District, which is a largely undiscovered and unspoilt area, but still only 13 miles from bustling Keswick. Cockermouth provides a good variety of shops, pubs and places to eat, but the main attraction of the area is the magnificent scenery and superb walking in the northern lakes - Bassenthwaite Lake, Ennerdale Water and Derwent Water. The town is renowned as the birthplace of William Wordsworth and Fletcher Christian (of Mutiny on the Bounty fame) and Wordsworth's Georgian family home, on the main street, is now a visitor attraction, owned by the National Trust.
