An amazing 16th Century, detached, stone built farmhouse set in a superb 'away from it all' location in the owner's 2000 acre hill estate, in the small village of Pennant Melangell in the pretty Tanat Valley. It has been renovated to high standards, the property boasts plenty of character features which include exposed beams, wall timbers, oak and slate flagstone floors, wooden shutters and an impressive inglenook fireplace with an original stone spiral staircase behind it. About the area: Llangynog 2 miles; Bala 14 miles. Hidden at the head of the pretty and quiet Tanat Valley, the tiny village of Pennant Melangell is quite rightly one of the treasures of Wales! Visitors are drawn to the historic church, where a shrine is dedicated to St. Melangell who lived in the 7th Century, and can discover for themselves the delightful legend about this brave and kind girl. There are plenty of lovely walks in the area - Pistyll Rhaeadr, the highest waterfall in all of Wales is reached by a footpath from nearby Llanrhaeadr Ym Mochnant, and the 15 mile Pererindod Melangell walk begins at Llangynog. Further away is the RSPB nature reserve at Lake Vyrnwy, and Bala Lake, with its brilliant watersports facilities. Amenities: Full central heating from electric boiler & woodburner in sitting room.
